Six seconds...I really didn't think it would get worse than that.

    I stand corrected.

If the Redskins miraculously finished 12-4 and lost to the Giants in the divisional round this year, I'd be awfully ****ing happy about the state of the team once the short-term disappointment wore off. There's always next year.
Problem here is this is like being up 35-7 in a playoff game and pulling a Romo level choke and end up losing 38 - 35.

So any team that came up short while it was learning to win is relegated to being losers? I suppose the 100-win, top-seeded Cardinal team from 2005 should be ashamed of themselves for falling short in the LCS. It's not like they gained any experience that year that might have served them well and led to 2 titles starting in 2006.

Man, this one hurts. I don't think I've ever seen anything so heartbreaking in the time I've been following DC sports. I don't follow the Capitals, so the only teams that I root for in the area are the Redskins, and of course the Nats. I've never been so into baseball as I was this year. I've always been a Nats fan, but I seriously believe that I might have seen every single regular season game this yeay, not to mention going to at least 5 games when I had the chance. This loss tonight is the most pain I've ever felt, even worse than the '99 playoff game with the Skins Vs. the Bucs. I guess tonight proves that DC is really some cursed sports town, and that our teams don't have the clutch gene. It might show itself once and a while (Wizards winning the Bulls Series back in 2006, Redskins winning 5 straight to make playoffs back in 2005), but when the chips are down, and when our teams need to take that next step, they always fail on key.

I won't be paying much attention to sports for the next few weeks or even months depending on how my mood is. I know I won't be paying much attention to DC sports for a while, because it's all the same with every team here. I know the Skins will find some way to blow their game this weekend, and I know that the Wizards will not even be a factor during this upcoming NBA season. It's the same story every year with these teams, and it is always going to be like that I'm afraid.

And that's sports...win or lose, the experience and ride is why we watch. Otherwise, we would just read about it in the paper the next day. There is always next year to enjoy the ebbs and flows of games and seasons.

Tell me about it. When did a city that hadn't had a playoff baseball team in 8 decades become so entitled that it turns its collective nose up at 98 wins and a division title? Sign me up for your Redskin stepping stone year!

I swear, TD-Washingtonredskins, losing must be a hobby of your because a loss just roles right off of you. If I were a Nats fan (I'm an O's fan), I could care less about how many games we won. All I know is that we were THAT close and it was ripped away. There's no guarantee that you're gonna have a chance like this again anytime soon.

It's almost like you're saying, "you should be satisfied because you had a good season."

Which might be why he acknowledged the short term disappointment.

Its not the loss itself, its how it happened

1 more strike. Thats it. 1 more.

I don't even know how to describe this. Such a gut punch
The hotter the heat, the harder the steel, no pressure no diamonds, we compete, we win

We are the next decade of the Washington Redskins

I get that, but it would be more than short term just like tonight.

The Skins have picked at it the last decade, but this one. This pain I have never felt before for sports. I hate it. It's only reserved for relationships ending or deaths. Not a sports team.
    It hurts so bad.

I can't do it. I can't summon myself to care about what happens to the Redskins this weekend. Maybe not any weekend for the rest of the year. I don't give a flying **** whether the Wizards win or lose a single game this year.

I love the games with my whole heart. I love basketball so friggin much. I love football more than I can say. I love baseball like it's going out of style. But right now, I just don't think I can keep loving these teams like I have.

One of my best friends is a Cardinals, Mavericks fan. Spoiled son of a *****. I respect his team. They whupped our asses fair and square and were magnificent in the process. But that doesn't stop me from wanting to beat the crap out of the next Cards fan I meet in person. Ugh I wish his big dumb Irish ass was here right now. I would punch him on the jaw. Grumpy son of a *****.

Here it's mostly lose, and when we win, we make up for it by losing soon after in the most awful and heartbreaking ways possible.
