Gio signed a very team friendly deal when he got here, he's locked up for the foreseeable future.

J.Zimm is the next to get paid.

Gio is crazy cheap. I think J-Zimm you could buy out a few years of FA for under 20M.

Stras still has a while before arbitration. I would do 5/100 for Greinke

Definetly support the Josh Hamilton idea. No salary cap in baseball, so that's not something to be feared. Same way if Granderson hits the open market or Ichiro. The team has pitching, now what we need are hitters that people fear day in and day out. And we do need another, better starting pitcher. Greinke sounds interesting. The pitching staff is great, but we can make it more dominant to help negate powerhouse offenses like the cardinals and yankees.

My big problem with Hamilton is he essentially quit on his team after the all star break

Lesson I learned this year, it is bad to have the best record in the MLB. When was the last time the number one team won a WS

142, almost dead centerfield. Nobody screamed it in the outfield. How many Cards fans did you see last night?

No you're right. Keep Bryce at CF. I just thought about that.

If anything, I'd look at some middle relief pitching. Just a thought, how much you think it would take to get Hamilton? Doesn't he play CF for Texas?

If Lombo is not an everyday player, can we find someone else to take Kspinosa's place? He's a sure out

    Nolan Ryan disagrees with you.

As far as position, I'd move Hamilton to Morse's spot in the outfield. If we got somebody like Granderson, you let him play where he feels comfortable and tell Harper to try and hit 40 HRs two years in a row and he can play where he wants, too.

I also don't like the idea of letting LaRoche go. I'm not seeing too many options to improve that position if we do that.

Of course Nolan Ryan is going to say that

But anybody who paid attention to baseball, and watched that wildcard game could see that Hamilton quit.

Espi gets one more year, only because many of us were saying similar things about Desmond before this season. Desi came alive in his 3rd season, maybe Espi can put it together as well.

He's going to get a monster deal, for us he would be a luxury, not a necessity.

Thought I would feel better today but tried to read a Jason Stark article about last night's game and it was painful. It's painful to think about free agents and the winter meetings. I'm going to break up my routine and take a little while away from sports. Watching them and thinking about them has come to basically consume all of my free time. I want to be able to take them as just a game again, remember how they made me feel when playing them as a kid. I didn't even get this bent out of shape about them when the teams I was on lost.

He's been watching baseball way longer then I have, but I still had to hang up on him once the Cards took the lead.

I called him back because I said I would, but that fact still remains that there's more to being the best team in baseball then having the best record (the cards just proved it, again). My only fear from this season is now so many of these new nationals fans are going to be spoiled by the idea of having the best record being normal or the new standard.
Did you get to my posts after this one when I explained why I feel the this way?
