Any suitable or averagae qb could have gotten the Texans past an over achieving Bengals team but when the competition became steep Yates was not ready for that big stage and I will say the same for Cousins. At the end of the day there were better options in free agency ala Dennis Dixon who I thought would have been a great young option but took an average qb that does not have the athleticism to run the full offense. A draft pick that could have been used on a player that can contribute now not five years down the road if the Skins are lucky.

Didnt read the whole thread but best case scenario we get a 2nd for him in a couple years, worst case he ends up as a solid back up. Confused at first but I totally get it now.
Didn't check if it was posted, but QB camp.

The Gruden profile of him is awesome. I was fine with the pick before I watched it; now I'm more sold than ever. This is a perfect Shanahan QB: sound fundamentals, high intelligence, high character, and highly coachable. We had no depth at the QB position and now we do. Grossman is the backup this year with Cousins as third string, and by next year I'm guessing Cousins becomes the #2.

Brilliant move by Shanahan for a few different reasons:
1.) RG3 now has a "study partner"
2.) Shanny can compare RG3's progress in terms of verbiage/play-recognition against another filmroom/playbook junkie.
3.) Beck is gone.
4.) RG3 is forced to remain humble and realistic even though the fans of DC have already handed him the keys to the Washington monument.
5.) More college team-captains on the roster. (Reminds me of Brees when he talks)

Good move. We need QB depth and to learn the system. Just in case of injury, the team doesn't miss a beat.
When patriots picked Mallet in 3rd round, nobody questions them.... Shanny knows what he is doing. I am cool with it.
With one bold move to get RG III Shanahan saved his job...
With another bold move to draft a 2nd rookie QB in the same draft, Shanahan is one step closer out the door!!
We needed to strengthen our defense and O-line in the draft to help our rookie QB. But instead Shanahan chose to feed his fetish for QBs.
Like many have said, this is D.C... When any two QBs get together its a controversey!! And that's the last thing Shanahan should've created at this point in our franchise's history. We finally got a franchise QB and immediately he has to share the headlines with questions about Cousins.. Ascinine!!!!
The games Dixon played Dixon played exceptionally well. The point being the Skins took a rookie qb that will get minimal snaps in practice and never started a Nfl game compared to a young veteran qb that has experience seeing defenses and understands the speed of the game.

Would you stop with that "third-stringer" nonsense. Heck, almost everyone technically drafts "third stringers" in the 4th round and down until they move up the depth chart. So, according to your annoying and cocky beliefs, he's going to always be a third stringer? And who's clueless, again?
What happens if, God forbid, Robert goes down a couple years from now and Cousins comes in and plays well for a couple games? Then we have all kinds of interest in him and teams willing to give up picks? Doesn't everyone praise Philly and NE for the same thing? Is that simply not a possibility for this "third stringer" you keep annoyingly labeling?
