I actually like this pick. I really hope there is controversy because it will make Robert Griffin III even better as I'm sure he can handle it. Then we simply do what the Eagles did and trade Cousins for first round picks. Profit (In a perfect world).

Agreed. Though I think RG3 can handle any pressure thrown his way. I'm not concerned about any "QB" controversies either. They're a time honored tradition in Washington and don't always make the best of sense. Go figure.

I like the pick a lot, and the people who think its a bad pick or like Schuler and Ferotte classically conditioned to believe that because we have tow quarterbacks this (insert chaotic prediction here )is going to happen. The truth is its going to depend on the personal evaluation of the two players. RGIII has been nothing but class this entire offseason and seems perfectly willing to work. We just gave an arm and a leg to get him. And they seem to be character guys who understand almost nothing should be guarenteed and we have to be as ready as we possibly can for whatever situation we can because nothing is predictable in sports. Its insurance with possibility of a good payout; seems to me like good business.

I believe that Shanahan valued Cousins enough at that spot that he "had" to pick him. I don't believe he necessarily wanted to, but because he saw a good investment that could pan out for the future makes sense to me. I mean; we got the OL depth we have been asking for and now we have a legitimate back up plan other that Rex Grossman which if I have to watch him take another snap in the B and G I am pretty sure I am going to cry.

The Cousins pick was pointless - the team just spent its 3rd pick on a guy they hope NEVER plays. This team still has too many needs in other places for a luxury pick like that. Just plain dumb.

For a team to go deep into the playoffs, a team needs a healthy talented franchise QB, and a really good backup.

The Skins, for nearly 2 decades, have struggled finding both. This year, wirh RG III and Cousins I think the Skins have addressed this most desperately needed void. Rexy is Grossy ... and, that's a fact. He is an interception machine. And, Beck is just not NFL material. He couldn't throw accurately beyond 5 yard from the line of scrimmage.

Time for the Skins to really stockpile some talented Undrafted Free Agents. We need to get some additional Tall Speedy WRs, a ball hawking Free Safety, and some help for both the O and D lines.

This was an insurance policy pick if (knock on wood) RGIII snaps an ACL in game 3.

Grossman is a fine back up and understands the system, but it does this team no good to put Grossman back in as the starter if RGIII goes down for the season.

If he beats out Grossman, which is possible, he's a 2nd stringer. Grossman on a 1 year deal means Cousins is the eventual 2nd stringer. It's called long-term strategy.

Yeah we do have holes, especially for depth. QB most important position, we needed better than Grossman backing up RG3. Not my fault you can't understand long-term strategy and value picks.

Yeah because we have a 2nd stringer in Grossman and we could grab a dumb 3rd stringer during training camp...Come on man

And Grossman is a solid backup...Terrible starter but a solid backup.

With RG3 playing style making plays last while scrambling all over the field and rookie QB's tend to tuck and run when they get the chance.This is a smart move to have a more than capable back up QB.Until we see how durable RG3 is.
