Default Welcome to the Redskins Adam Gettis G Iowa

    Round 5, Pick 6 (141)

    Gettis, Adam G Iowa

    6'2"

    293

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profil...tis?id=2533449

    OVERVIEW
Gettis started full-time for only one year at Iowa after logging just three starts prior to his senior year. He is a severely undersized yet smart and competitive blocker who stood out this year for Iowa as the leader of the line. It will be much more difficult for him to overcome his size deficiencies at the next level; if he can't put on at least 10 to 15 pounds of weight, he could struggle against the league's top interior defensive linemen.

Hmmm, they picked a small gaurg because of his speed and ability to fit into a zone blocking scheme?

This pick makes me think of the other Gibbs...

Incidentally, that's why I never understood the Eric Cook pick and why I expect him not to make the roster this year.

I'm just worried about Jamaal Brown and how he can hold up, RT in general.

We'll see how Brown does. I think we have good depth at tackle, though, and our focus on interior OL would tend to bear that out.

The "severely undersized" comment makes me nervous, but I find that hard to believe at 6'2" 293lbs.

At least he should be able to run and have decent endurance.
Jim Haslett is a horrible coach.

Easy there cupcake, just a simple question. People are fired up around here, chill, relax, hopefully the 6'2" 293lb runt works out.

BTW, he is pretty small for a guard, maybe he's a pitbull???

I agree, he is SMALL though, he could trim some weight and be a running back.

Yreah, the writeup on NFL.com started off with "severely undersized", then later, says that the average NFL guard is 300. (He's 293.)

I confess, I wondered about that, when I saw that he was "severely undersized" at 297, and was the fastest 40 time for a OG at the combine. My thought was "FB? Lead blocker?"

I also wonder. We seem to have gone for "undersized", but fast, interior OL. Maybe we'll be seeing a lot of sweeps or rollouts?

We need OLinemen that can stay in front of RGIII when he rolls out. They HAVE to have some wheels.
    My Redskins 2012 Draft

1 Robert Griffin III QB, Baylor
    3 Brandon Boykin CB, Georgia
    4 Senio Kelemete OG, Washington
    4 James-Michael Johnson ILB, Nevada
5 Andrew Datko OT, Florida State
6 Devon Wylie WR, Fresno State
    7 Bryan Anger P, California

Well, for whatever 40 times are worth on the OL, I think we drafted the fastest OG in the draft, and the fastest OT.
