    Jordan Bernstine on the rise
by Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, April 17, 2012 at 2:57 am ET

Iowa safety and return specialist Jordan Bernstine is regarded as a rising draft prospect.

He's expected to emerge as an immediate special-teams standout due to his toughness and athleticism.

With a dearth of safety prospects in this draft class, Bernstine has climbed into fourth-round consideration, according to NFL sources.

Bernstine has visited the Oakland Raiders. And he has conducted private workouts for the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots.

Bernstine ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 and 4.38 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout.
With 29 NFL teams watching, Bernstine also registered a 41-inch vertical leap, a 10-7 broad jump, a 6.75 in the L-drill, an 11-3 in the long shuttle and bench pressed 225 pounds 18 times.

I'm no expert, but those workout numbers look pretty darn solid.
Eli Manning will be 31 years old when the 2012 season starts.
Michael Vick will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.
Tony Romo will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.
ROBERT GRIFFIN III will be 22 years old when the 2012 season starts.

    "4th round consideration".

And I like the "return specialist" part, too. Always a need for ST talent.

Safety that runs a 4.3? Yes, please. Maybe we can finally have a FS that isn't burnt toast, and does damage with the ball in his hands. Give me a 90+ speed QB and a 90+ speed FS in Madden anyday, and I'll tear it up. Come at me, pukes

He was only a one-year starter but he racked up 89 combined tackles in that one year. I like that.

Strong, Free, whichever, with 4.3 speed, you bet Im gonna play deep and pick off passes all day with his range, and turn them into TD's, lol. This draft is making me anticipate Madden 13 more than ever!

    Analysis from another forum

I can try but it's hard because he didn't play. He's a very very good athlete (4.4ish 40 guy who was all everything coming out of high school), who was on track to be a starter for like three straight years but kept getting hurt. He played corner early, but last year they moved him to strong safety (his more natural position) and he started from about the third game on. He's good in run support and hits like a truck, but he looked pretty lost in coverage. Pretty solid returner and kick coverage guy too. He's worth a flier this late because he's incredibly talented but he just doesn't have a ton of game experience and is a huge health risk.
