Love the simplicity of it. I was thinking it looked like FSU at first, but the close up of the helmet makes me appreciate Nike's attempt at a modern day translation of the 1937s. I like what I see.

1937 was our first year in DC and we won the NFL Championship, our first of five. Wearing a throwback to that uniform is a good move for an anniversary celebration.
The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "
Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.
So, another parallel that we're hoping to draw from 1937 to 2012. Very clever Bruce Allen! The design also pays tribute to 1937 QB “Slingin” Sammy Baugh, who in his first year in the league led the newly relocated Redskins to their first National Championship.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Ok, so, looks like I *am* the only one who doesn't like 'em. Oh well. The helmet is pretty cool up close, looks like crap from a distance, though. *shrug*
You're definitely not the only one.
We have a lot of history in Washington, so there were a bunch of different directions we could have gone:
I can see why people might prefer the spear, or the feather, or the Lombardi "R," from an aesthetic perspective. But from a historical perspective, I like that we went as old-school as possible. I think it gives a sense of just how rich the tradition is.

I have that plaque hanging in my room. I know about the tradition. That doesn't necessarily make the uniform good looking, though. To each their own. Still my team. Just think they look like crap. At least they're better than the Eagle and Jet throwbacks.
I do not think I meant it the way you took it. I know you know. Nobody is questioning your fan-hood.![]()
My point was there were so many possibilities, and different folks might have preferred one over the others. For me, I like the decision to go all the way back to our first season in DC for inspiration. Aesthetically, I could see why you would prefer something else.

I don't really get the beige pants. What's wrong with gold?
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."
Man, when they went to throw back, they threw way back. Has a team in the NFL incorporated a leather-like helmet into its uniforms since the days of actual leather helmets?
In any case, the alternates do look quite classy.
The uniforms are awesome! I say this because they are so much better than the Steeler throw-backs. HTTR

I like the return to the real rich, dark Burgundy. The uniforms have been way too close to straight red for a long time. We're not the freaking Chiefs.
But the other color should be metallic gold.
"The Internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea: massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it" - I wish I had said this.
Im curious how they decided on the new slogan "Team. Effort. Tradition."...... why not just go with "hail to the redskins"? If ur honoring team tradition isnt it counter intuitive to use a brand new slogan that nobody really associates with the team? Not to mention snyder's tenure as an owner doesnt exactly conjure up alot of images of team first, high effort players![]()
