and why would a coach stay in a place where he isn't wanted?

Because you're a professional and you've got a job to do and if you don't do it you'll get cut and they'll find someone else to do your job for you. Seems pretty simple to me.

Why does Haslett have to know about this? Or at least know for sure? Right now its internet gossip from guys that we at ES respect, but who have little traction outside our small realm of the internet (you know, other than people stealing their scoops once in a while). I believe the insiders on this one, and it makes sense.

That doesn't mean its common knowledge or spoken openly about.

Because at this point in the offseason he's not likely to get offered a d-coordintor job anywhere. Coordinators usually get hired real early in the offseason so they can begin installing their schemes. And who knows, maybe he's just trying to tough it out and prove that he deserves to be here. No reason to quit/resign now.

You are missing all the reported material of Shanahan wanting Mike Zimmer and trying to get a interview with him but he choose the Benngals.

Furthermore, I find it extremely ironic that Jim is being bashed by our fan base (specifically the annoying httr 247 crew and their followets) for verbally communicating our offseason plans. Yet the httr 247 crew divulged all the same information on the Internet!!! You know the place where records are both permanent and available to all... Unlike a private conversation, which has no record nor is it available for all to see and hear... Flamesuit on
thanks for the annoying comliment, nicest thing i have heard all day. The " all you have is a podcast" is probably the podcast where we moved a little info on John Keim for his take on Hazs future. Coincidentally all of us have the same info that Haz is on borrowed time. I have not slammed Haz for talking BUT it sounds a little different when information is coming from Haz then TK,Jsteelz,or I. I have commented on HAZ verbally attacking and undressing Coach Slowick "Off the record" to local reporters and going to Mike pushing that he be fired. Mike of course kept Slowick on staff, Denied a contract extension Haz requested ,and went out and recruited Raheem Morris with Bruce and Kyle Shanahan. Haz again has not hired or had any say in his defensive staff and he knew nothing of Morris coming in until the ink was dry on the contract.

Haz talks to much to the wrong people and rubs alot of people the wrong way on the team and staff. The general consensus when Haz was hired was he would talk to much for Mikes liking and that is how it has played out.

There's a LARGE difference between some dude on the internet communicating our offseason plans, and a member of our coaching staff divulging information to some random person on the street. Hogs Haven is pretty good at not biting at just everything, and it's a long way to fall and destroy their credibility by copy and pasting stuff from twitter.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with those guys, but i will vouch for them this one time and say that the information about the team are more than wild guesses. They have hit on ALOT of inside info weeks and/or months before it actually occured. BTW, i don't think any of us know their actual affiliation with the team, and speaking for myself, I really don't care. But all i know is that they have a pretty decent track record regarding their accuracy rate. Which would lead one to assume that they, at the very least, have some deep connections within the organization. I wouldn't dismiss them, just because..

What else is he going to do? where else is he going to coach? And last i checked, he's not coaching for free.. There are alot of reasons for him to stay and ride this out.. Like a coaching-audition of sorts.

I'm coming in late to the thread, LL, but I remember reading that he was the 4th option. Who were the first three?

That's quite an assumption. They also get the scoop on FA moves...you think players know about that stuff before it goes down as well?

Love when people discredit our "Insiders"!!

They do us a favor and give us info, they don't have to BUT they do. Be happy or don't be happy. It's cool to hear information and then have conversations regarding said info.

But the one thing people can't do is discredit them. Even if the info is not accurate, doesn't mean they were wrong but that plans change. Nevertheless........ THEY KNOW!!

    Thanks SOUP for the sig!!

nice fact..most all of the Coord got 3 yr contracts, Including Haz, Now the ? ..why wud he coach if he is not wanted ? why try ? because his contract will run out and he will need a job, would it look good if he just gives ? see eric mangini and ask if he thinks coaches get shut out.. Haz asked for a new deal and has been turned away. On a lighter note..Someone go ask Juan Castillo the Eagles D coord why he so scared ? So scared that he flew out to meet with Jon Gruden to get tips on how to better defend against a West Coast Off.. with a QB like RG3...not earth breaking news, but Yea..they scared

I like Morris. I think Haz is better than average. I'm not sure I'm thrilled about disrupting the continuity of our defense, and handing the reins to a guy who has never been a DC. Just my two cents.

If I was coaching, I would be scared Jon Gruden would be here next year if we do not win 50% of our games.
