Tuberville has left Texas Tech to become Cincinnati's new coach. Yes I had to read that twice too.

Is it just me, or does Johnny Football look like he's 30?

Like Doug Flutie, Manziel wins the Heisman essentially based on one game.

I'm obviously biased, but a QB who throws for 4000+ yards, has a 40/6 TD to INT ratio and a 71.4% completion rate...doesn't finish in the top 10 of the Heisman votes?

ESPN needs their Tebows...although, technically Klein is more Tebow than Manziel.

top 10? i thought there were only 3 dudes were invited. geno smith's team lost 5 in a row. that's why he didn't win. sucks but it's the truth. the heisman is a crock anyways, the best player in college and only 5 out of 77 have made it to the hall of fame? lol. eric crouch never played in the NFL, jason white wasn't even drafted, leinart has started a handful of games and has been dreadful, now he's a professional backup, troy smith couldn't beat out kyle freaking boller, and is a backup for life, timmy tebow is LOL. there's only a handful of heisman winners who have ended with respectable careers since barry sanders...

I know what you mean about the winners, but this is how the top 10 shook out. Hard to believe that Geno didn't belong in that group..5 losses or not.

    Manti Te'o, Notre Dame; 1,706 (321 first-place votes)

Collin Klein, Kansas St.; 894 (60 first-place votes)

Marqise Lee, Southern California; 207 (19 first-place votes)

Braxton Miller, Ohio St.; 144 (3 first-place votes)

Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina; 61 (4 first-place votes)

    Jordan Lynch, N. Illinois; 52 (3 first-place votes)

The Heisman is an award on how well you do/ productive you are in college football. It is not intended to be a predictor of NFL success. That you view it that way is your failing, not the award's.

It's supposed to go to the "most outstanding player in collegiate football."

Not the "most outstanding player in collegiate football on team that wins a lot".

    Somewhere, people got that confused.

Personally, I don't think there was a more outstanding player than Tavon Austin this year. But I'm biased.

If the seven schools decide to move to a new league they would keep their automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament according to NCAA rules, which state that, as long as they have been in the same league for five years, a group of seven universities would keep their bid after a move together.

Except this thread is for football..and this is purely a basketball move. Their football teams don't compete in the FBS.

True but if the Big East disolves then it would effect where the Football Schools might go.

Lol that certainly is a biased statement. The fact is as mentioned before, the Heisman is for best College player. If you think Tebow was not deserving of the award then we should stop discussing college football anyhow. As for other "issues" with the award, defensive players rarely get it without supplementing by being a KR PR standout specialist. If you weren't to look at the best players on the best teams then how exactly would you do it? Everyone can't watch every team play but we do generally get to watch the best teams and during said games we get to see who stands out, don't we?

I don't have a problem with how the Heisman has turned out this year nor many in the past except when it seems that a player is selected off of an unbeaten team and the player isn't necessarily better than someone off of a 1 loss team but that is why we vote and from the looks of it there are certainly a ton of people who vote and like anything else, general popular opinion wins. The rest is water cooler talk for you and me.
