All these rumors continue of Clemson, VT, FSU all leaving ACC?

4 other ACC schools that could be on the move soon: Clemson, FSU, Ga Tech, Va. Tech

There is no easier coach to be against than Brian Kelly who should have been held accountable for the student manager dying two years ago. He gets off without any penalty and now people talk about how great he is.

Any time there are talks Clemson and FSU are always thrown into the rumor mill even if its not a legitimate rumor. The way I see it is this. The 50 mil buyout goes into effect in july of next year. It would take a miracle for all these teams to get out by then. After that date the only team that has a shot is ironically Maryland. Their athletic program is so depleted financially they're desperate to make a move, and luckily for them they have the CEO of under armour willing to foot the bill.

Maryland regents to vote on Big10 move on Monday.

    http://espn.go.com/college-sports/st...en-move-monday

Under Armour founder and Maryland uber-booster Kevin Plank is "100 percent" behind the Terrapins moving from the ACC to the Big Ten, a regent told ESPN on Sunday.

The University System of Maryland's Board of Regents will meet at 9 a.m. Monday to vote whether to accept an invitation to join the Big Ten Conference, a source told ESPN.

Plank is "heavily involved behind the scenes with board members," a regent told ESPN on Sunday. The source added that several of the 17 board members were "miffed" that they were not included in the process until the late stages, so the vote could be close.
There is not a consensus among Maryland athletic department officials, a source said. The school is leaning toward the move but there is still time for the school to decide to stay in the ACC, according to the source.
[If the two schools join the Big Ten, it would reopen what many thought was a stable time in the conference realignment process. The Big Ten joins the SEC as a legitimate 14-team superconference, while the ACC drops to 13 football members and likely will pursue another all-sports member to get back to 14. Connecticut would emerge as the most likely candidate to fill Maryland's spot in the ACC.

This process is moving rather quickly. They add nothing to the Big10 other then a footprint. The ACC might actually come out ahead seeing as how Maryland football sucks as much as UConn, but UConn's basketball team is a bit better. I hate to say it because Maryland is a charter member of the conference, but if they wanna go then.....bye. The ACC wont miss you.

Ugh. Notre Dame in the no. 1 spot.

The worst part is that they aren't even that good, but they keep just barely beating mediocre teams. And now all the subway boosters will come out of the woodwork.

On the one hand, I mostly agree with this outlook...especially the Manti Te'o angle:

On the other hand, it's pretty hard to look past, as Hersh pointed out, the fact that Kelly sent a kid to his death a couple of years ago:

    It does, sure.

Also doesn't help that Miami's going into the gutter, and VT's on a downward spiral.

FSU's schedule this year kind of sucks, and even though none of it's FSU's own fault, it still hurts their perception with voters.

The voters put them right were I would figure they belong. Somewhere between 5 and 10. Its the computers putting them behind 4 loss teams that has killed them. And their schedule took a hit when West Virginia backed out, and it just got worse from there with no one in the coastal wanting to step up and pick up the slack VT dropped this year. Although in hindsight, even having the WVU game wouldnt have helped them out much, except for the fact that computers would have counted that game as opposed to them not even counting Savannah State.

Maryland leaving will open the floodgates IMO.

I'm not going to care much for the championship game if Notre Dame is in it. Instead I'll be looking out for at least 3-4 great match ups between other teams like a Kansas State vs an elite SEC team or Texas A&M vs a top 2 ACC team. I don't care too much for the Big 10 this bowl season though.

Hell, when LSU and Bama played a rematch and there were 2 SEC teams, I didn't watch 1 minute ot the snooze-fest. I was watching both the Oregon-Stanford game and the KSU-Baylor game and just shook my head when both lost. I was really hoping Oregon could have held on.

I know you are a Gamecock fan, but I'd rather have that instead of YET another SEC team.

Ugg, I do not want MD to leave the ACC. It's just not right. I will hate that we won't have the traditional basketball rivalries of the ACC. I just can't see what this move accomplishes. I know the BIg10 has a better road to the BCS, but MD is never good enough to go to the national championship. Hope the regents vote no. Please, do NOT go to the Big10. Please.

LOL Yeah I hear you on that. the SEC has been giving us some pretty boring championship games.

And I just heard that Matt Barkley out this week...seriously? Could Notre Dame get any luckier? LOL

I wonder where Ohio State would be ranked in the BCS if they were eligible.
