College of Charleston to Join CAA in 2013

After a month of negotiating with the CAA, College of Charleston has accepted an invitation to join the CAA for the 2013-2014 season. The move gives the CAA a school to replace Georgia St., VCU and ODU, which have already left or leaving next year. Charleston gains more recruiting and exposure in the northeast due to their association with the CAA.

With a win over Kansas this weekend, WVU could/should be playing either the #2 or #3 (adjusted for Oregon/Stanford) from the Pac 12 (Alamo or Holiday Bowl).

So that's either UCLA, Oregon State or USC.

That's crazy.

Even as ****ty as this year has been, being in the Big 12 has benefits.

Errr, Unless I totally fouled something up or missed something, WVU can finish no better than 7th. They'd finish with the same record as TCU and TTU, but they both hold the tie breaker over West Virginia. Now i will admit I have no idea how strict the bowls are by going by conference standings.

Yeah, I still remember a scene that I have mentally filed away under "Football players are dumb".

Far as I'm aware, except for the mandatory BCS berths, each individual bowl gets to invite whoever they want.

Which is why "how many tickets will they sell" is a lot more important that conference-record tie breakers.

Doeren to leave NIU for N.C State
Won't coach Huskies in bowl game

Dave Doeren guided Northern Illinois to back-to-back Mid-American Conference championships, and now he is headed to North Carolina State, the school announced Saturday afternoon.

Doeren informed the NIU players of his decision to accept the N.C. State position Saturday night. Then NIU athletic director Jeff Compher addressed the players.
