That is not a trick play. And neither is a fake FG. Hell, by your definition of trick play, a play action pass is a trick play because it is designed to make a defense think you are doing something else.

The "false start" trick play is a glorified screen pass designed to suck the Dline upfield.

it is a glorified screen pass, but it is a trick play. fake fg's are definitely trick plays. that does not make a play action pass a trick play. there is not a game that goes by that both teams don't run several play action passes. fake fg's and false start screens are not very common.

that said, there is nothing wrong with trick plays. they still count against the defense. trick plays don't diminish what the offense did or inflate what the defense did.

And lets forget completely the BOMB dropped to Sammy Watkins from a traditional offensive set. And the gashing screens to Ellington. And the Boyd scrambles. Clemson went up and down the field the entire first half and half the third quarter. I am not saying FSU isn't a good defense. They are NOT elite. Elite defenses don't give up 426 yards. And Sparty contended half of Clemson's yards came off trick plays and after FSU shutdown the tricks, Clemson did nothing. Watch the tape. Clemson has been running that offense for 2 years now. THAT has now become their base offense. What Clemson does game in and game out is no longer a trick offense anymore than GT running the triple option. It is there. You have to prepare for it.

Auburn ran it with Cam. LSU ran it. Florida ran it with Tebow. GT has run it for 5 years now. Navy has run it FOREVER. It is not a trick offense. The poor man's statue of liberty (i.e. fake pass on an end around) and the halfback option were the trick plays. A fake FG and a different screen pass you consider to be tricks. Doesn't change anything I have stated. But then again you can't, that is why you harp on the "trick" plays and trying to accuse me of trolling.

You forget to mention that Clemson is probably one of the top 3 dynamic and explosive offenses in the county. Last year Alabama gave up 21 points to the Georgia Southern Eagles (who? exactly...) and they were still considered elite. In fact many people joked that Alabamas defense could shut down the dolphins. Yet there they were giving up 302 RUSHING yards to an FCS team. One half of play, let alone one game isnt enough to negate two years of history.

So do the Clesmon stats only reflect poorly on VT? Or are you guys just pulling **** outta your ass to make FSU look good now? Because VT gave up 23 and 323 to Clemson last year during the regular season. FSU gave up 31 and 426. So how exactly does that help FSU?

last year =/= this year. And its just silly to judge two teams based on their play against one common opponent especially if your gonna make the case spanning multiple seasons. I never said VT's defense was over rated last year after they played Clemson. Whatever argument between you and Spartarcus is between you two.I'm not gonna sit here and defend someone else's position on a topic I care little about at the moment.

I thought the same thing coming into the season. I couldnt understand all the hype they were getting. So does this loss show that the Pac12 is really just Oregon>>>>>>>everyone else?

It's also Steve Sarkisian's first graduating class (well, some of them). Perhaps UW is better than people thought? Especially after they got dismissed after getting trounced by LSU (and really, there are a handful of teams who don't).

But, of course Stanford isn't as good as they would be with Luck at QB an/or Harbaugh at coach. Who would be?

Still, they aren't going to drop to the bottom of the Pac 12 anytime soon (like they used to be).

agreed Oregon is the class of the Pac-12 IMO, but the Pac-12 as a whole showed well in thier non conference games this year.
