I missed the Michigan State game and apparently it's a good thing that I did. This is an excerpt from the game summary I read:
At least they won.Last season Michigan State and Wisconsin met twice and produced two of the most exciting, entertaining college football games of the year. On Saturday the two teams met again and put on a performance that was the exact opposite of last season.
Don't get me wrong, things got interesting in the last minutes, but the first 55 minutes of this game was the football version of Chinese water torture.
...
When you think about Wisconsin you think about giant offensive lines with a cadre of running backs running up and down the field behind them. Well, you didn't see that today. Wisconsin finished the day with only 19 yards rushing. Which is a pretty terrible number, but how much worse does it look now that I've told you they needed 37 carries to get there.
In fact, the teams combined for only 80 rushing yards on 65 carries. I told you at the top that this game wasn't pretty.![]()
PSU lost.![]()
Oh how I hate those Ohio State cheaters.
Eh, Penn State tried but just couldn't find any running room. There were one or two really bad penalty calls, but only one really burned my ass. Penn State was leading 7-0 and had forced Ohio State to punt. On the punt, one of the Ohio State guys dove and went low on a PSU guy. The PSU guy grabbed his pads and shoved him into the turf, protecting his knees. Got called for defensive holding, automatic 1st down. Ohio State drove for a TD.
Now that doesn't excuse the way OSU rolled over them in the second half or the number of rushing yards PSU gave up, but it was a chance to go up two scores (and possibly shut OSU our in the first half) so it was a definite momentum swing. Unfortunate, but ultimately not an excuse. I still think the rest of their schedule is winnable, and given the number of players they lost, a 9-3 season wouldn't be too bad. I really thought OSU was ripe for the picking, but Penn State couldn't get it done.
Yeah, OSU isn't that good. They went to OT against Purdue...who got blown out today![]()
When are the voters finally gonna realize that Oregon and Alabama are the two best teams? I guess when KSU loses it'll all be clear. I hope ND doesn't jump Oregon if they win today.
KSU is scary good.
It will all work itself out in the end. KSU has beaten everyone in their path home and away and has a better resume than Oregon. At this point if they are #2 I have no problem with that, Oregon will play USC and if they beat USC badly like I think they will then they can jump them back (that's how it should work). On another note, I am actually impressed with ND. If they beat OK in Norman I've got no problem with them being above Oregon (until Oregon kills USC). It should be based on who you've beat when you beat them if we're going to even have poles. I think this rules against Alabama right now but of course they are the returning champions so I really don't have a problem with them staying on top since they're killing their opponents and we'll see what they're made of against LSU in the valley.
Like I said it'll all work itself out and at the end of the year people will still complain but the NCAA wins because everyone will be talking about it which is what they want![]()
Does it really matter that much?
Everyone else is just fighting to eventually get their asses whipped by Alabama. They are so far ahead of anyone else this season that it's disappointing.
Yes, Oregon is probably the second best team, probably the only other contending team that can match up with Bama in coaching quality. But they don't have the defense to hang with Alabama. None of the QBs are good enough this year to elevate their team enough to actually be a threat to take down Alabama. The only other schools that start to approach as many NFL players as Bama probably won't even make it (UGA, LSU, South Carolina, and Texas A&M), and they're all flawed anyway. Florida was a pretender and probably wrecked it for teams that actually had some small chance at beating Bama.
The only way Bama does win this championship is if they have a day where every single thing goes wrong. The team is better than it was last year, I don't see that happening.

They're human.
They're an overachieving team that's been playing great and making shockingly few mistakes. But there will come a game when all the mistakes seem to come at once and their talent level is not good enough that they can overcome that against a quality opponent.
I don't think they can match up against Alabama.

Bama wins every game by like 20 or 30
No one is going to eat them
Best chance is against LSU
And how about ND! Up 10 on OU!
Watch ND jump over Oregon after tomorrow night![]()
