Sure he can. But i don't see him being the workhorse the Bengals want us to believe he is. They're touting him as a three down back....i'm not sure he can hold up to it. He was used sparingly in New England for the most part.

And if it's me, i'm keeping my best talent and targeting rookie RBs like Richardson, Martin etc...AND guys who may not be kept like Lynch, Spiller, J Stew, possibly DeMarco Murray...etc. With only two keepers, there will be RBs to be had.....you don't need to "settle" for BJGE on value alone when you have more talented players to keep on your roster.

Even if you don't want to go by ADP, which position is thinner this year, RB or TE?

Say someone reaches for Finley earlier, that could mean someone like Vernon Davis, Fred Davis, or Pettigrew could fall. Is there really a difference between Finley and those 3? Not really.

There's a big drop off at RB after the 4th or 5th round.

I know BJGE didn't do much during his time in NE. But he's going to a team where Cedric Benson just had 3 straight 1,000yd seasons. You're telling me BJGE can't do at least that?
This league also starts 2RB plus a flex, so there's the potential to be playing 3 RBs every week. Not only is TE a relatively deep position, there's less need for it.

Anyway, like I said I'm going to reserve judgment until right up to the keeper deadline just to see how things develop, but the debate has been great food for thought.

You came to the right place lol. We may not have made it an easy decision for you, but we've definitely given you plenty of info.

But you can still get those guys and have BJGE be your flex guy. That's pretty much what you would be taking in the 8th round anyway.

    12 teams, 2 keepers

    Aaron Rodgers
    Tom Brady
    Cam Newton
    Matt Stafford
    Drew Brees

    Arian Foster
    Ray Rice
    LeSean McCoy
    Maurice Jones Drew
    DMC
    Chris Johnson
    Matt Forte
    Marshawn Lynch

    Calvin Johnson
    AJ Green
    Julio Jones
    Hakeem Nicks
    Larry Fitzgerald
    Andre Johnson
    Roddy White
    Greg Jennings

    Rob Gronkowski
    Jimmy Graham
    Aaron Hernandez

That's 24 players right there. I think 95% of that list gets kept in his league. You have guys like Eli Manning, DeMarco Murray, Mike Wallace, Welker, Jamaal Charles etc etc etc who are probably on the bubble and being considered as keepers by members of his league. But for the sake of this...let's use the list I supplied and pretend those are his league's keepers. If that holds true...here are the running backs available ahead of BJGE....

    DeMarco Murray
    Jamaal Charles
    Adrian Peterson
    Ryan Matthews
    Steven Jackson
    Fred Jackson
    Trent Richardson
    Doug Martin
    Darren Sproles
    Ahmad Bradshaw
    Willis McGahee
    Reggie Bush
    Roy Helu
    BJGE

Now it's my personal opinion....but i see 13 other RBs worth targeting much earlier in the draft, as opposed to being saddled with BJGE because he represents "good value". Of course this is give or take, and there's no way i hit the keepers 100%, but I'm not seeing this great shortage of RBs....yes they won't be as readily available as other positions...but there's a good chance he could land TWO of the guys on that list in the draft, and let someone else take a chance on BJGE. You've got to take into account that there WILL be RBs available, and the teams who kept one or possibly two, won't be looking down the RB list as often as those who are in need of them.

    True.

But since he'll have Nelson, he can go RB-RB 1st 2 rounds, then WR-WR and still have solid guys plus BJGE and Nelson.

On your list of TEs people would keep, that still leaves:

    VDavis
    Gates
    Witten
    Finley
    FDavis
    Prettigrew

And you yourself said you'd rather have Vernon over Finley. So why not upgrade

I'd rather upgrade the RB position instead of TE when I already have Finley. As you said, the tight end talents are more closely related. There's a big difference between Murray/Matthews/Richardson/Martin and BJGE in my opinion.

Send BJGE packing and give me a chance at a Murray/Mathews combo....or a SJax/Doug Martin combo. Both upgrades over the combo of lets say....Bradshaw/BJGE.

And oddly enough, contrary to what's been said during this debate, it actually looks like RB is STILL the deeper position over TE after the keepers are selected in this particular league. Funny how that works like that.

Ok you make a good point there. But, who says he still can't go after those guys? Just because he has BJGE it doesn't mean he can't still get those guys.

To me its all about value here. You're getting a guy that is going in re-drafts right now in the 4th round for an 8th round pick. Like I said, if you really want Finley, you can still grab him in the 6th or 7th.
Not saying BJGE isn't going to have a solid year but he's going to split with Scott who i love. Finley is a STUD. You don't get stud's in the 6th round

So what did you ever decide with this?
