For us to avoid a set back, we'll have to add some depth to the secondary and DL. We definitely seem to be on the right track now.
Last year, they won a lot of games at a razor thin margin while this year, they are losing them. Also, lots of teams did not play the full game against them last year. For instance, remember their Dallas game last year? Dallas was dominating and should have blown them out and just self-destructed in the last quarter. Nice thing here is that most of our wins have not come when we are being dominated like that and out opponents self-destruct and even most of our losses were more due to us being bad. Problem that we may have is that the offense cannot have a bad game if we want to win.
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.

I'm glad with the way 2012 turned out...I'm much happier not having to defend 3 straight double digit loss seasons!
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

They can't run the football. Problem with Detroit is, they are running a "one back" offense with LeShoure and he needs a fullback leading into the hole. Also, most of their TEs (Pettitgrew and Sheffler) are pass catching TEs, so without a true FB or TEs that can block, they are relying on their line to do ALL the blocking. They are easy to defend with all the WRs out.

They lost all semblance of offensive balance. Stafford has also been pretty bad this year, showing clear regression from last season when he was poised to join the elite QBs. The schedule got harder. The coach is teetering on the edge of losing his locker room. Their defense can't seem to stop anyone. They play in a brutal division. The season got away from them early and things fell apart from there.

Wow!!! Look how a few weeks can change things.

And oh BTW, Shanahan has been a part of teams to have played in 10 Conference Championship Games in addition to his six Super Bowl appearances.

Not a bad resume. Patience was definitely a virtue, huh?

    Go Skins!!!

Makes sense. I remember someone explaining that the type of injury he suffered normally requires a 3 week recovery period. He didn't seem to take a ton of spills last week even though he played, so it would make sense that he would be full go this week.

With a qb that ran shotgun and had a few check down system in a gimmick conference is your number 2 pick...to save the franchise---right. We paid a hefty price for a pot'l unproven qb without building an oline. This will result in another 3-5 year set back. Just plan sad, not sure why fellow skins fans our so excited. We've drank this cool aid before, give me water and tell me its water.

Posts like that from longball are why I took a long break from the board. August and the Skins had already failed. Yeah, you can only take so much stupid sometimes.

Allow me to save you the trouble. This isn't the worst, but it'll do for now.

    I should feel optimistic? really?

So you know how to properly run a franchise?

Well damn, get Shanahan on the phone and give him some damn pointers
Season sure got a lot brighter over the last month and a half, didn't it?

If we finish 9-7 or worse...
Jim Haslett is a horrible coach.

Yeah, I second that. I really got into it with Brave here in this thread and elsewhere, as well as quite a few others (lol), but it seems he's one of the only ones willing to reflect on it sincerely.

And not saying I was right or anything, don't take it like that. I really don't care how I'm viewed here with the labels. But this place at 3-6 really made me understand how awful it's become, unfortunately.
