I wouldn't trade up Dog. We just don't have enough picks. We have to keep a volume of selections coming in and losing the third would mean only one higher round pick this year instead of 3. That's a big handicap. If Matthews failed, that's a lost class and a serious teambuilding blow.

Can William Golston be a steal in the second round? Let's say we can get RT and secondary help in FA. Can Golston be a good BPA pick in the second?

Though Jake Matthews is pretty damn good.

He really is damn good. If he got closer to the end of the 1st, I'd really consider moving up

If we had all of our money available for the FA period I might think of trading up

I think if TJ McDonald falls to the 2nd round, we have to pull the trigger on him. He might be the best safety in this class, he is pretty impressive.

All I'll say is I really hope Meriweather works out, or Gomes develops into a solid SS. Getting a new starting FS, CB, and RT in the next year (or CB, CB, and RT if we slide Hall over to FS) isn't impossible, but if we have to add SS to that, it's going to be painful.

The OL is one of my main viewing focuses and I've always felt the easiest or most direct means of improving any offense is physical superiority at the POA.

I've been one of the most staunch advocates for upgrading the OL and have been critical of many of the decisions.

I do not want to see Tyler Polumbus unless his level of play improves, which I doubt. (heck I thought we should have cut Chester and I think we should considering benching him now)
However I don't think it will be hard to find an upgrade for Polumbus and I don't think this offense requires the type of dominant RT play I would like, especially in light of some of the other areas that would benefit more from the same resources used to acquire that dominant RT.

I'm convinced that Willie Smith being cut was not based on performance alone, I can't remember who but someone posted that there was more to his being cut then just on the field.
Not many agree, which is fine, but I thought Willie Smith was at least as good as Polumbus and laughably better then Jordan Black.
    But I digress.....

I think the defense was underachieving and will improve over the course of the season based on execution and scheme comfort alone.
I think some questions we have could be answered for better or for worse as the season plays out.

I like him a lot, watched a few Phins game.
I watched Smith during Hard Knocks too.
Good size, speed, agility, good hands and he can tackle.
    Highly competitive.
I don't think Ireland is a good GM by any means but even he's gotta realize they need to re-sign him.
I think they traded away Davis just for that reason. They believe in Smith, they surely won't let another corner go.

Probably not, but I don't think we can underestimate how silly and petty Ireland is.

Now, we can't talk directly to players, but imagine Smith continues to play really well. We let someone, like loose-lips Hazlett, slip to the media at some point that Smith is on a short list of potential pursuit options in the offseason. Smith's agent finds out, and when Ireland comes to make a new contract, probably low-balling the guy with something like 18M/5 years, they decline, and Smith hits the market looking for something closer to 25M/5 years. If he continues to play well, he could well be worth it.

Silly scenario, but Ireland seems exactly like the kind of guy who'd try and underpay someone like Smith, allowing him to escape into FA. Fingers crossed.

Well I just started a new connected career as the Redskins HC in Madden and was able to do some wheeling and dealing with the available free agents to make these acquisitions:

    - Percy Harvin
    - Janoris Jenkins
    - Muhammad Wilkerson
    - Cameron Heyward
    - Alameda Ta'amu
    - Stephen Paea
    - Raheem Moore
    - Jonathan Martin

Plus I got us two first round picks for 2013 and two more 4th rounders.

The only extant Redskins I gave up to do it were Santana, Cofield, Bowen, Carriker, Moss, Madieu Williams, Jammal Brown, and Brandon Merriweather.

Basically I went for young talent I could develop over a long period on defense and found us a nice wide receiver and right tackle. Now if only our FO would just do what I did...

Love Rambo. If he's there in the 3rd would be a steal. But he has to show something after his suspension this year and well keep his head straight. Also, I would go bpa in any of our rounds or trade down. We cannot be content and we have too many holes in allot of areas.
