That said, I think he's a 2nd rounder much like ray rice (certainly not the versatility, but as far as he'll slide and in a few years be a top 5 back in the nfl and everyone will question why guys like ryan williams and beanie wells get drafted in the 1st over a guy you KNOW is going to produce).
Chris Thompson is super fast. Would like him on da team.

    Walt Canty

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke senior safety Walt Canty was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week on Monday after helping the Blue Devils to a 42-17 win over Virginia.
Canty logged a season-high 14 tackles in the victory, including a career-high three tackles for loss.

Canty admitted later that he called his own blitz on the fourth-down play.

“I wasn’t supposed to blitz,” he said. “I just did it on my own. And I guessed correctly.”

Damn Kelly Nash looks really good. It won't be long before she's in the big leagues.

I saw Lindsay Czarniak on Sportscenter this morning. I didn't realize she worked for ESPN. She was even better looking than she used to be.

Indeed! but would you spend a first round pick on an ACC broadcaster? With an impressive season and post-season workouts she could sneak into the bottom half of the first round. A lot will depend on her 40 time she has to show that long speed, IMO

Some might remember Dexter McCoil from the 2012 comprehensive:

    Dexter McCoil (FS):

    2011: 84 total tackles / 6 INTs / 7 passes broken up / 13 passes defended

    Free Safety:

    ...

He registered fairly high (for a safety) in passes defended for 2011:

Well, he's back at it for 2012:

    http://www.tulsahurricane.com/sports...092412aab.html

IRVING, Texas - University of Tulsa defensive back Dexter McCoil was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week in a vote of league media members, it was announced today by the C-USA office.

McCoil, a 6'4", 222-pound senior safety, played a huge role in Tulsa's 27-26 victory over non-conference foe Fresno State on Saturday night. The Bulldogs came into the game averaging 43 points and over 500 yards, but were limited to two offensive touchdowns and 364 total yards by the Hurricane defense.

McCoil was credited with 10 tackles, including eight solos and 1.5 stops for -2 yards, and two pass break-ups.

The weekly honor is the first in McCoil's career and also the first this season for a Tulsa player.

    ^sans the passes defended.

You're not going to confuse him with one of these SEC types, he can get caught looking into the backfield rather than reacting at times. He'll need work with tightening up his coverage, he gives WRs (at times) too much room to operate OR one could say he likes to bait QBs with the space, because he has length to recover. Plus he needs to hone his skill to become excellent with his form to his tackles, a little loose now. He can provide some pop though.

But again, the off radar guys are fun to find.

Those are interesting. Basically Kerrigan is not THAT much worse rushing the passer than Watt

Granted, a 3-4 DE beating a 3-4 OLB is still impressive, but that may be counterbalanced by the fact that Kerrigan IS our only pass rushing threat and he's still highly effective as a rusher.

Also, every team we've faced to date other than New Orleans has at least one guy on this list. Bengals have 2.

I sorta think we need a new paradigm for sacks versus getting pressure - sacks by an individual player may well be a function of factors external to a player's performance (scheme, supporting cast, opposing OL, QB ability to get the ball out under pressure) while pressure is more a function of "how well is the rusher beating his man".

    Also, this article is interesting:

It argues that the left tackle position is vastly overvalued.

CLEMSON — For three years, Rashard Hall has been one of the steadiest presences – both on and off the field – for Clemson’s secondary.

He has started 31 of the 40 games he has played in, including 24 over the past two seasons. He’s managed at least 63 tackles and two interceptions in each of those seasons.

And last fall, he became the second Clemson football player ever to graduate in just over three years.

    Player Profile:

He graduated from Clemson in three years with a degree in marketing, and became just the Tiger football program's second three-year graduate, with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

His 13 career takeaways rank ninth in school history.

I just downloaded the 2005 data just to see what it was.

Holy, that's a lot of information. Should be useful in comparing players too, looking at stats of current successful players and upcoming prospects.
