That makes sense. I also wouldn't mind a real dynamic slot guy like Tavon Austin.

I know everyone is on the TJ McDonald bandwagon and I'm hoping he's available mid 2nd round, but if he's not, there's another USC safety worth looking at in later rounds: Jawanza Starling. He's a bit of a late bloomer and really struggled his frosh/sophomore year, but he's a four-year starter and his junior/senior year so far have been absolutely solid. He plays the run very well and will get an INT once in a while (2 so far this year).

This is probably his most famous play as a Trojan, go to the 1:59 mark:

To whoever was skeptical about Cordarrelle Patterson- that guy is absolutely ridiculous with the ball in his hands, a homerun threat every time he touches the ball. If you question his ability against SEC competition, check out his tape vs. Georgia and Mississippi State.

Which is why I believe that he'll be gone in top 40 to 50 selections. My guess now is early 2nd (Top half).

It wouldn't be unheard of for him to go from #29 to #35. Brian Quick was the #33 overall last year. Patterson is a different receiver, less of an X, more of a guy you want to have the ball in his hands right away in space (screens, quick slant, reverse runs). He has more elusiveness running, natural return ability and cutback, nose for the end-zone, etc. than Quick.

I'd take him before Robert Woods, more electric, more dynamic. Year after year the playmakers get swooped up fast, no need to fool ourselves.

And right now, I'm actually thinking that the Skins will have the 12th to the 18th selection in the rounds they have a pick. Essentially a 7-9 or 8-8 record. End up selecting somewhere between #44 and #50.

I wouldn't kid myself in thinking that he'll somehow be there in the 3rd (#65 - 96). Unless something drastic happens: injury, really bad off field stuff, arrest, etc.

Yeah, Patterson is really good. I think top 50 sounds about right.

    - Patterson
    - DeAndre Hopkins
    - Da'Rick Rogers
    - Tavon Austin
    - Justin Hunter
    - Marquess Wilson

Lots of speedy playmakers in this class. Also some other big bodied guys like Terrance Williams, Keenan Allen, and Aaron Dobbs who can be deep threats down the field.

Yeah or maybe he just get pushed down in the draft because the WR class is very deep. Never know with the draft.

NNow if Terrance Williams makes it to the 3rd I'm absolutely running to the stage.

Say what you want, but if we got Byrd and Talib in FA, I'd take this draft

    2. Margus Hunt
    3. Matt Elam

Those 2 picks right there would do wonders to this D along with having two good DB's in Byrd and Talib

If we signed Byrd in FA. Then CB as opposed to another S would become my next target. I would just roll w/ Byrd, Meriweatther, Doughty, Gomes/Pugh, Bernstine.

With Talib I'd look CB in round 4, with someone like Micah Hyde from Iowa

I look at it like this if we can get Talib for cheap and Minnifield can be healthy we have a very formidable CB core. Maybe can move DHall to FS. Draft a stud S. But want the front office get a DLineman that recks havoc too. Also we have to think its a possibility that Rak won't be all the way back from his injury.

From what it seems like, Orakpo will be back fine. If its any help, D'Qwell Jackson had this injury and he's fine now for the Browns

My first blush thought about Talib sans research is that he's just an average CB and we already have 2 guys that fit that billing. If S is addressed via FA I would try to find the best young CB that falls in range of my draft pick.

Seems like there would be more value in taking a safety in the second round. By that time the good coreners are gone... Plenty of good safeties will be there

    Get a corner in FA
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."
