OK, don't kill me for this... But as we were talking about yesterday. We should at least make a claim for Alameda Ta'amu, NT.... What about bringing in situational pass rusher Aaron Maybin? Yea I know, some consider him a huge bust, but we've seen him at the end of last season able to string together 6 sacks when everyone thought he was done... Obviously I don't want him here if Orakpo can stay healthy but I honestly think Chris Wilson blows and Rob Jackson is good enough to maybe play the 1st and 2nd downs.

    Thoughts?

After Kerrigan and Orakp, the Skins have nothing. And its killing them now. Its funny. I was just looking at Walterfootball.com about 3-4 pass rushers. The Skins need to do something about it.
Ta'amu? Knucklehead! But I would give him a shot.

After Kerrigan and Orakpo, the Skins really don't have a rush linebacker. Wilson I thought would do a good job. But hasn't. Neither has Jackson.

I think one change we can make now is moving Jenkins to NT and Cofield to DE, as it should have been in the first place. Cofield is actually getting decent pressure, but he's not great against the run having to handle double-teams. Jenkins is stouter against the run and holds the PoA, but isn't getting much pass pressure. So I have Jenkins move to NT, and I have Cofield go to the outside and see if he can generate some disruptive pressure.

The issue on the DL is about the OLB. The loss of Orakpo has really killed the Skins.

I was actually a fan of trying to bring Merriman in when 'Rak went down but now that the Jets have released Maybin, I'd give him a shot over Merriman. Maybin was a 1st round pick, built like a tank, and still extremely young. He may offer nothing at all, but that nothing would still be better than Chris Wilson on pass rushing. As far as Jenkins, I feel like this fanbase is giving him way too much credit. A lot of his stats came from Clemson's defense having guys like Brandon Thompson, Da'Quan Bowers, etc. I don't think I'm expecting too much from Jenkins and at best he's good depth at the DE position. Cofield would be great at DE once we get a true NT in there... Here's to hoping we claim Ta'amu before the Patriots turn him in to a star and also Maybin before the Patriots or Ravens jump on him...

"One thing about Maybin, though: He's fast. The Jets will miss that dimension in their pass rush. He had nine QB hits in 119 snaps, the best ratio on the team. But, at 3-6, maybe Ryan felt the need to send a message to the team."

Not sure why the FO didnt bite on Sergio Kindle/Ta'amu... what does it hurt? our back ups are scrubs anyways... dont think Wilson would be picked up.

Kindle is still having issues with his recovery. His head injury will take time. He may not ever fully recover.

Maybin has been cut twice now. Red flags!

I wouldn't say red flags as much... If you read the article, he has the best QB hits ratio and is one of the faster OLB's in the NFL. I think Ryan was displeased with the vocalness of Maybin and how he talks a lot of trash but doesn't produce like he should. Either way, red flag or not... We need guys that may get it done over what we have. If we worried too much about always getting the best character guys, we'd have the worst team in the NFL. Some of the best players are noteably vocal and wild so to speak. A quiet team of college captains does not win the Super Bowl...

Not to mention if a guy has a red flag for being cut twice... then we'd have a lot of red flags on our team already. Some of our guys have been on almost all 32 teams lol

Skins are better off drafting a OLB. If Maybin isn't producing, why sign him?

For the season I wish we would sign Maybin, Ta'Amu, and Ray Edwards and see how they play the rest of the year

I'm not that really intersted in any of those guys especially Ray Edwards is a terrible scheme fit.

If he doesn't cost you anything, why not give him a try and see what he has before wasting a draft pick on a position in which we normally have 2 legit starters, all pro? Cut Banks, and use his roster spot if needed. We don't have enough picks to spend on an OLB early on and any that we do draft will merely be depth.

I'm talking about for this season, right now, bring in Ta'amu and Maybin for a tryout... Have you seen any sacks lately?

But what does it hurt, is my question? Good teams do this all of the time when needing to fill holes especially if they are actually trying to salvage a season. Maybin's speed alone would benefit Kerrigan greatly. I agree that Ray Edwards has no business as anything other than a 4-3 end and even then he was just a benefit from having played opposite Jared Allen. Ta'amu would strictly be a project with potential...

Thank you. Exactly my point. The idea that we'd rather play Chris Wilson on 3rd downs is beyond me...
