I would love for the Redskins to be able to draft David Amerson.

    http://www.realredskins.com/rich-tan...-root-for.html

RALEIGH, N.C. — Mike Glennon threw three touchdown passes and David Amerson returned an interception for a score Saturday as North Carolina State defeated Boston College 27-10 in the teams’ regular-season finale.

N.C. State (7-5, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) is headed for a bowl game for the third season in a row — its destination is dependent on other ACC results.

Amerson snagged a pass that deflected off the hands of Boston College receiver Colin Larmond Jr., recording his 18th career pick and darting back for a 55-yard score 27 seconds before halftime. N.C. State improved to 12-2 when Amerson records an interception, including 5-0 this season

He was awful vs. Tenn. Hope he's gotten back to his 2011 form.

He's way overrated. He's a Hall clone, but with less speed. He goes for the big play, leaving his teammates out to dry. He's awful at man to man.

How many of the safeties expected to go in the first 3 rounds are Free Safeties? I wouldn't draft a strong safety early...I'll take my chances on Meriweather coming back.

I would go Safety/Corner in the 2nd/3rd rd...or vice versa

You have to use two hands when counting Meriweather's injuries ...

Not quite as loaded as Alabama, maybe a hair less than UGA, but those are the only two teams who can claim to be better IMO. His numbers are a reflection of that surrounding talent. I think they'll predictably regress next season once Joeckel, Swope, Michael, and Matthews are in the NFL and people will wonder, "what's wrong with Johnny Football?"
Believe me, his support cast has definitely helped, but Manziel has been ridiculous with running. Even if you give all the credit for his passes to his receivers and protection, once he gets in the open field that's all him. He is an incredibly shifty runner and imo has more highlight reel plays than any player in quite some time.

But getting back to safeties, I'm curious why no one ever mentions Phillip Thomas. He seems severely underrated around here.

He's had some real good games, like vs Colorado, 3 INTs. He made plays vs Nevada, stat line looked good, but the man of the night was Robbie Rouse and I remember liking the athleticism Derron Smith showed on his INT more so than with Thomas, that night.

Then again, he kind-of disappears at times, like against Boise St. - looked physically outmatched. Against Tulsa he had a coverage lapse, which lead to a TD and you were left scratching your head with him.

One reason why, his teammate, Derron Smith, looks just as, if not better of an athlete. Smith comes off as more the gambler in coverage, playmaker, quick twitch. While a point should be made that Thomas missed last year to a broken leg, combo ankle thing.

Some days I want him in the 4th, other days the 6th.

I really feel like the Skins are better off drafting a safety in that 4th round range. There are so many safeties in this draft that a lot of them are going to drop. There's not much separating the crop, they all have some warts, it's not a highly valued position, and not every team needs them badly. There's no way all of these guys are going in the 2nd and 3rd. It's not good draft management to take a safety with some issues in the 2nd when you can get a guy that's just about as good a couple of rounds later. I haven't even been a big supporter of chasing Byrd, but I'd rather sign him and take the best S on the board in round 4 to throw in the mix with Meriweather rather than spend a 2nd at the position.
