Need a RT SS/FS and CB. This is a great draft for those positions

(+1) I also like Corey Lynch.

I have some doubts about Hall switching to FS. I think it's possible in time. Ronde Barber made the transition after being a tremendous slot defender forever. Charles Woodson moved to safety after thriving in the slot for a few years in a way he never did earlier in his career playing on the outside in Oakland. Deangelo seems to be following that path.
I think Hall could play FS but if he comes restructures to come back I would play him at CB/NB.

I think it's an absolute certainty there will be good safety prospects available to us in the second, third, and fourth rounds this year. I do not think there will be such a run on the position that we're going to see the seventh and eight guys get taken by the early third. The 8th safety last year was the 139th pick and only about three went in the first two rounds.
I've been putting this off and maybe it needs its own thread. But, I want to look at this how this current S class ranks up with previous years. My current opinion is that this S class is better.

I agree about Elam being a SS. He's more like LaRon than Earl Thomas. Thomas was an undersized SS at Texas. Thomas was almost interchangeable as a corner prospect and plays single deep safety in Seattle's defense. Elam's not that suited to the single deep role IMO. It looks to me like he plays mostly SS in cover 1 and cover 3 at Florida. Some cover 2, some single coverage in the slot. His biggest strength is his hitting ability and his aggression,
I think Elam projects to either position FS/SS. Elam isn't unlike many of this class S prospects in that he plays a lot of 'big nickel' DB in zone or man coverage against a slot receiver or short zone. They simply do not play a lot of NFL style FS i.e. Cover 1/3 deep middle or Cover 2 deep half S. But, to my eye I've seen Elam play more deep middle and make more plays as FS then Vaccaro and Swearinger.

The 40 times are gonna be huge for hashing out this S class. These S are very close and the safety that can get sub 4.5 but especially sub 4.4 are gonna move to the head of the class.

We're not going to find a better pass rushing NT than Cofield most likely.

Jelani Jenkins declaring for the draft. Could be great value on the 2nd (3rd round) or even 3rd day. Just needs to be healthy. Local kid too, and could be a guy to try and develop for a fletch replacement. Great coverage LB when he played

I personally think we already have our long term ILB's on the roster

Wonder how we're going to cope if RG3 tore his ACL and PCL?

With an improved defense and more weapons, Cousins can win 10 games next year.

The problem is, with RGIII, we would have gone 15-1 and probably to the Super Bowl in that scenario. Hell, if we just retained our defensive performance from last year, we win the Bengals, Rams and Giants games bring us to 13-3. With a competent RT, we go 15-1 this year and RGIII's not hurt because Polumbus didn't force RGIII to scramble for his life like he usually does.

Its either ACL/PCL or ACL/MCL. One way or another he's more than likely on the PUP list to start next year.

I don't know too much about him, but I know Eric Weddle is very good. Yet the defense is pretty bad against the pass. You'd think a good safety tandem would be able to prevent that. Lynch has 0 sacks in his career (we like to blitz our safeties). He was part of a woeful Bucs team last season. Woeful enough that they decided to draft a Safety in round 1, and moving a 37 year old corner to safety would be an upgrade. That's not a good sign.

Okay no reason not to add another on the 3rd day, we need another ILB either way. Jenkins is super talented too.

I think we cut/don't resign: Hall, Doughty, Williams, Griffin

TJax and Merriweather break camp with us

My dream draft would be to acquire another 2nd round pick (I guess a Cousins trade) and do this

    2nd: Eric Reid S
    2nd: Desmond Trufant CB
3rd: Tryann Mathieu CB (I think he will be a great slot cover guy which is becoming so important)
    4th: Daniel McCullers NT
    5th: Jelani Jenkins

    6-7 best player available

Sign a WR and RT in FA and were set

    That's rough.

This offense can not function the same without him.

His injury shouldn't really change how we draft though. BPA as always but I feel like it does reinforce my desire to go out and get some more playmakers on offense.

I really hope we finally get RT fixed. I would love to fix that spot and see us produce a season where RGIII's sack total is in the teens.

Why so little faith in Cousins? If we know, going in to the season, that Cousins is the starter... we should be good to go. I think we still function just fine without him. He's got some legs and plenty of zip and velocity on his passes. I'd be perfectly content with Cousins starting a few games

If you don't know much about a player you should do some research before reaching speculative conclusions.

I have no idea. It will depend on his health and combine

I think he goes anywhere from the 3rd to the 5th round at this point. Key words being thins point in time.
