Eh I definitely wouldn’t go that far… and that is just my assumption at this point. But assuming that is the case, I can understand the desire to cover it up. I definitely don’t agree with how he did it though. I’m just curious to know if he will be able to be a leader of the defense that he’s supposed to be at MLB. Also, I wouldn’t want any part of the media circus that would be following him around. Let the Jets take him.
We have known since yesterday all that stuff was lacking. The new stuff coming to light is that there are running conversations on twitter by people completely unconnected to T'eo that are joking about hoaxing him. I am not making any definite conclusions either way, I'm just relaying the latest.
And anyone who thinks the story would have pumped up his draft stock is high. I mean, seriously. This is why the interwebs is ridiculous.
Without the "inspirational" story of Teo fighting through "adversity"? (and to be fair, his grandmother actually did die, but apparently that wasn't juicy enough), is Teo even in the Heisman discussion?
I don't know how the demonstrable fact that Teo has told multiple lies about his interactions surrounding this "girlfriend" doesn't make you look at this whole thing suspiciously. At *best* he told a fib and it mushroomed out of his control. This would make him "merely" enormously stupid and someone who would probably never win the respect of a locker room. At worst he attempted to scam the NCAA and the NFL.

Bottom line is, just like with Roberts rehab and potential start date, we don't know all the facts yet. So reguarding Teo everyone should take a step back, wait and see what comes out over the next couple days. The idea that there are posters out there claiming that he is a homosexual just because of this is just idiotic. Now maybe he is, I don't know him or what all has happend with this, but guess what neither does anyone else on here. The truth or as close to it as we will ever get will eventually come out. So to decry this young man before all the facts present themself is just crazy.

You are right, and Id rather start discussing prospects
and get off this subject. I posted something on the last page about Dukes' mock draft, but it got lost in all this Teo ****.

Will he be a better pass blocker than Polumbus day 1? If so, I'm on board with that pick.
I 100% agree with that assessment of him. I also think that he would be 100% in the Heisman talk because he was at ND. Everything about ND was heinously overrated, and they had no business being in the NC game in the first place (obviously).
They story had **** all to do with that.
dupe, whoops.

I'm not so sure there was a conspiracy to inflate Te'o's draft stock going on. I think he's probably just crazy. I'm not trying to be an ass or insensitive, I don't know what type of mental illness this kind of behavior would fall under. I'm sure there is one.
Te'o is good though. Probably a first round talent. Rare athleticism, rare instincts in coverage, rare striking ability and he seemed to be a fiery emotional leader you want at ILB. Excellent blitzer. He just wasn't the super blue chipper he was being made out to be. Didn't have the instincts in pursuit and that instinctive understanding of how to defeat blocks and show up at the ball like the truly great LBers do (Luke Kuechly and CJ Mosley).
Personally, I wouldn't want to draft someone who probably has very serious mental health issues. That person would have a high potential to be unstable and unreliable IMO. But if he got thoroughly evaluated and got successful treatment, then he deserves a chance and I could get past this episode. It's certainly ugly and distasteful and all of that. But it's not some terrible thing that hurt anybody and it shouldn't damn him.
What I'm wondering is why no one whoever reported on the story ever tried to contact his fake girlfriend or her family. Wouldn't it have been worthwhile to talk to her if Te'o was constantly going on and on about her? The media first reporting this story showed its ass.
