Thread: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database

Watching te'o in coverage is scary. He's just a fish out of water. He reminds me abit like the Ronaldo McClain from bama. Stout but cover skills lacking.
The more we focus on safties and corners I have a feeling mike and Bruce will throw a curve ball and draft a tackle or someone unexpected with our 2nd rounder...

I personally dont feel that way. I think Ace is a late day 2 early day 3 guy

    5. Jonathan Cyprien SS FIU
    5. Dennis Johnson RB Arkansas
    6. Jasper Collins WR Mount Union
    7. Steve Greer ILB UVA

    Thoughts?
It would be foolish to try to project Amerson to safety with such a deep proven safety group. I will take alot of those safetys over Amerson has a safety. At CB he is very overrated in my opinion. Very doubtful we draft a underclassmen as well especially later in the draft. I'd rather DHall play safety then Amerson if were projecting.

Greer won't be drafted. He was'nt athletic enough before the injury and was awful this year. He trys hard but the skillsets not there and his pass coverage is horrible.

Like the Jasper pick but he will probably move up.

Charles Davis seem to like Cyprien, I haven't found any game cut-ups. But, from what I've read and his numbers he seems like an interesting prospect in the mid/late round range.

Have to do some research on Brennan Williams and Sanders Cummings
I do have us drafting Amerson as a S which makes me more confident in him. As for Cyprien there are a few cut ups of him on youtube by Aaron Aloysius

Interesting enough you talk about Greer, yet he's had a pretty good week at the shrine game. If he goes it'll be late and once you get to the 7th its all projections

He is a good guy, team leader etc. I can see best case for him is backup LB that plays ST's. I like him because he does all the right things but he is just so limited athletically even more so after the injury. But I root for all my HOOS and I think if Minniefield gets that knee right we will have a rotational cb and it would'nt shock me if he stole a starting spot. He is alot like Hall and Amerson, a riverboat gambler that will get beat bad at times but makes plays.

No question, again its the 7th round sometimes you take guys you feel can fill just one need. I had a hard time finding someone else to just gamble on there. Greer just seems a lot like a guy I have as a backup ala HB Blades and get the most out of him on ST

No I would take Rhodes who is less of an issue than Te'o

But what issue is there? He lied about a gf. I mean how many dorky dudes did the same. Even if he did it for publicity the guy never has been in trouble and has no drug/criminal/character issues in his background. I'm saying look past the gf thing, if we had a chance to take teo instead of Xavier a week ago before this story came out, wouldn't u take teo?

Really? I think Te'o is pretty fantastic in coverage. He's very good with his spot drops and is a huge playmaker when the ball comes his way. He had like 7 or 8 INTs this year and a ton throughout his career. That's one of his biggest strengths IMO.

No, I dont view LB as a need while I do CB. I understand BPA philosophy but I devalue some players based on positions of need.

You mean the sam Manti Te'o who never had an INT until this year? He's only had 7 and all came in one year.

Nah, I'd take Rhodes over Te'o. If Te'o is bpa then I may consider him in the 2nd once we find out more about this whole thing, but corner is more of a need for us than ilb and I believe rhodes is about the same talent-wise as Te'o.

My bad you're right. No INTs before this past season. But the point remains, he's a huge playmaker in coverage and it's a strength for him. 7 picks and 4 more PBUs for 11 passes defended is an awesome total for a LBer. That's better than a lot of safeties and corners in the country. He was tied for second in D-1 for INTs this year.

Part of me just wonders how much was inflated from one year. 3 years of 0 and then 1 year of 7 just screams outlier

I just think a replacement for London at that level is huge. We need a smart guy like teo. London was a genius
