Thread: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database

Manti Te'o is going to be the ESPN circus of 2013. No way Shanahan wants any part of that.

Unless we can get Jairus Byrd (highly unlikely) or another top notch FS in free agency, I think we have to go that route in the second round. Madieu Williams absolutely killed us last year, he was legitimately awful. Lots of quality guys who project as free safeties who may still be around in the 2nd this year: Eric Reid (unlikely he falls to us at 52 or whatever, though), DJ Swearinger, Bacarri Rambo. Give me one of those guys and I'd be ecstatic. I like Philip Thomas from Fresno as well, but we really need a great cover guy back there and I don't think that's him. Also need another CB, especially if DeAngelo gets cut. Guys I like around the 3-4 rd range: Will Davis from Utah State, Jamar Taylor from Boise, Darius Slay from Mississippi State, and Sanders Commings from UGA.

If you ask me though our replacement for Fletcher is already on the roster.

Keenan? Shanahan seemed high on him even after his injury this year

Actually I'm confident that Riley and Robinson will be better on the field. I know London had a lot of splash plays this year (sacks ints) but his overral grade was really bad. Riley actually thoroughly outplayed London and I know Keenan Robinson will give us a coverage Ace at least. The hard thing to replace will be his presence and leadership. I don't know how missing that will impact the rest of the defense

Also Keenan is quite a good blitzer already as a rookie. He'll be a very good player for us for a long time

Does Te'o actually seem smart to you? I mean, people have always said he was smart, but they also said he had impeccable character, and look at that now. No matter which way you shake this whole fiasco, he comes across pretty damn stupid. I think that throws a question mark into the whole "Te`o is smart" thing.

Far as I know, it's Perry who's being groomed to take over the MIC position and Robinson would take Perry's role on the defense. One of the things lost this season was how well Perry played most of the season, aside from some coverage struggles, but pretty much everyone struggled in coverage so who the hell knows...

That's better than a lot of safeties and corners in the country. He was tied for second in D-1 for INTs this year.
He doesn't do so well in man coverage, and he tends to bite on play action. With his lack of speed, he struggles to quickly get enough depth for adequate zone coverage.

But check out who was throwing the ball. 2 of them came against Michigan, when Michigan threw 5 Int's total. Denard Robinson threw 4, and a 5'6 RB threw the last one. That's not exactly a high caliber QB.

He had another one against Navy. Trey Miller was the QB. On the season, Miller threw 2 TD's and 3 Int's. He had another vs USC, but that was the game when Matt Barkley wasn't playing.

    It's a total aberration.

Yes I would expect to have Perry take the spot of London. Robinson would take Perry's spot and be more of the Lawrence Timmons type for us

No. Xavier does things at a corner that few do in the NFL. He's got the talent, size, and physical nature to be an elite NFL corner. He could eventually become a great bump and run corner in the NFL, which we haven't had since Shawn Springs played for us. Teams who are great against the run have secondary players who can come up and contribute on the edges. For a cornerback, Rhodes is a monster against the run. He tackles incredibly well.

Rhodes went up against some good competition and shut them down.

Not to mention before he tore his ACL, Michael Mauti had similiar numbers against better competition. There were lots of linebackers this year that had as good or even better production as Manti Te'o did, and yet he was hyped to an unbelievable degree. Alec Olgetree and Kevin Minter both had similiar numbers to Te'o in everything but INTs (and again, Mauti had 5).

Te'o's entire Heisman campaign was fueled by Notre Dame's undefeated season that wasn't that great, and fueled by the story of how he succeeded through personal adversity. Was Te'o that much better than Luke Kuechly was last year?

In all actuality, Te'o is a mid-first, early second round talent who was hyped to an insane degree despite his players at his position putting up similiar numbers. This evidence will at the very least drop him to a spot where he should've been drafted at to begin with rather than some team buying into the hype and drafting him the to 5 or 10.

Ogletree will far surpass T'eo. Minter I'm not sold on.

Amerson isn't everyone's cup of tea but short of a 4.6 40 I think he's a CB all the way.

If Vaccaro and Elam go 1-2 do you think the 3rd S makes it to our pick? I'm loving how the current mock have them ahead of Reid, I would love to take him in the 2nd.
