If we're talking Safety without a move from CB to S then its DJ Swearinger for me.

Dukes (and anyone else), what are your thoughts on Earl Wolff from NC State and Rashard Hall from Clemson? Unfortunately I think DJ Swearinger will be gone by the time we pick. I'm just wondering if we would get more value by doing something like Wolff/Hall in the mid to later rounds we give us more value.

Vaccaro, Elam, Reid, Williams, and Rambo.

Elam and Reid aren't seniors, but Reid seems like he has academic chops and a work ethic, while Elam is just plain good. Elam also likes to hit, but I've seen him do some things that would probably be flagged in the NFL, so we'll have to be a tad careful there.

That being said, I expect Vaccaro and Elam to both be gone when we pick at 51 (or around there), but the rest are still really good players.

Some names I've heard thrown around beyond those guys are Phillip Thomas, Tony Jefferson, Robert Lester, TJ McDonald, DJ Swearinger, and Shamarko Thomas.

As I much as I want to build through the draft I would rather go someone on the line with our earliest picks. It looks like safety is the deepest FA pool by position this offseason. Seems like we will need to bargain shop with our cap space limitations and why not play in the deepest market.

As any given year indicates, FA will dictate how the draft goes. I do think RT and WR/RB are locks for the draft though bc I don't see the right fits for these positions skillwise and/or moneywise. Safety and CB may be addressed via free agency, but obviously is a draft priority if not.

    Round 2-Justin Hunter WR
    Round 3-DJ Swearinger S
    Round 4-Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB
    Round 5-Kerwynn Williams RB
    Round 5-Ace Sanders WR
    Round 6-Damion Stafford S
    Round 7-Chris Thompson RB

Haven't watched Earl play, Rashard Hall I thought was a decent FS. As DG has stated his 40 time is critical for him. Needs to run well, but has good ball skills

Does anyone have an opinion on Akeem Auguste CB from South Carolina.

From looking at a bunch of the recent mocks it seems we have a very good chance of landing Rambo in the 3rd round and depending on which mock an outside shot at Swearinger.

NFL.com http://m.nfl.com/draft/profile/2539943/dj-swearinger/ actually game me some insight that has changed my view on Swearinger a little.

Like any S prospect that doesn't play FS (many snaps at deep half or center field FS) I graded him down. And in DJ's case he played more like a 'big' nickel CB.
But, according to their profile Swearinger was only playing CB this year because of injuries. In his previous seasons he played both SS and FS.
His measured height and 40 time (again) and movement scores ae going to be huge for him.

Don't know enough about Earl Wolff to comment. But, I like Rashard Hall more then the rest of the draftnik community. Hall has good size 6'1--210 and actually plays Center Field FS in away that translates to the NFL and to our scheme. Again, his 40 time will be crucial but imo if we draft him in round 3 or 4 he gives Maddie Williams a strong run for the starting FS spot as a rookie. (But then again imo most of the good S prospects have a chance to beat Maddie Williams out for the starting spot)

The draftnik community seems to have soured on him but I still have him near the top of the list of FS. The only thing that keeps him from being the top S/FS prospect for me is size, but specifically bulk. I'm hoping he falls to the 3rd round because in my view he's a easily a day 1 starter at FS.

    Elam-SS/FS
    Vaccaro-SS/FS
Duke Williams-FS (but small school prospect)
Phillip Thomas-(Fresno)-SS/FS (don't see the top prospect others see)
Shamarko Thomas-SS/FS (really like this kid but he's small)
    Swearinger-SS

My rankings aren't based on where I think they'll go but on my view of their skillset with a focus on playing FS over SS

    Tony Jefferson FS
Rambo-FS (discipline? I really like the kid but he scares me as a week 1 FS maybe he starts off at SS and as he learns the game transitions to Free)
Phillip Thomas-(Fresno)-SS/FS (good size/speed, good production but I don't see the top prospect others see)
    Zeke Motta-FS/SS
    Robert Lester FS/SS
    Cody Davis-FS
    Jonathan Crypein FS
Shamarko Thomas-SS/FS (really like this kid but he's small)

Rashard Hall has grown on me the last few weeks. Not ready to put him in that top class because i'm nervous about his 40 time, but he's getting up there
