I haven't seen P.Thomas personally, but I've read good things.

I know its gonna be hard to project anything given that we don't pick until #19 in the second round, but given our needs and the talent available, I imagine most people think we'll go Safety?

    Any impressions/comments?

Lane Johnson and DJ Fluker have large arms (>35 inch arms). WR Patton came in at exactly 6 feet seemed taller on tape.
Holy crap, 36 3/8 arms? That's a full inch longer than anyone's last year. Hell, that's almost an inch longer than Marcus McNeill, who is 4 inches taller. Don't know if arm length matters past a certain point, but I would imagine the longer the reach the better.

Aboushi, however, just saw the death knell in his stock. I'm not sure the overall success rate of o-linemen based on arm length, but I do know there have been a lot of high profile o-linemen busts who had short arms, as well as a lot of elite o-linemen with long arms. Arm length, of course, isn't everything, just as russell wilson is proving you don't need to be 6'2 to play qb, but I would take a second look at a tackle with short arms.

    Garrett Gilkey OL Chadron State
    6057, 314, 10 3/8, 31 3/4, 78

Mon: Very impressed with Gilkey. Played hard, did not back down and fought hard every play he was involved with. He stunned John Jenkins on one play with a violent jolt of his hands and knocked the big tackle back off the ball.
Size-wise, as I thought, he could align with Guard. Still has some tackle in him. He has strength. But with Veer option using angle blocks, he could be the first wave of change to size and strength on the o-line.

    &

Leon McFadden DB San Diego State
    5096, 193, 8 5/8, 31 1/4, 73 3/4

Mon: Terrific day. Showed terrific ball skills, explosion and instincts. Practiced with quick feet, smooth hips and was terrific in transition. Had one outstanding interception and came close to another pick.

33" is fine for an OT. No one feature determines a prospect's draft stock much less his NFL future. And 33" is not that short. Michael Roos and Joe Thomas have been All Pros and high draft picks with shorter arms than Aboushi.

Also, how exactly is DJ Fluker at the Senior Bowl when he was a RS JR?

I watched the Boise State cut-up before, not the best film out there.
I have to look deeper at the other cut-ups; maybe breakdown 1-2 cut-ups from each of the top SAF charting the observeables.

But, imho Thomas isn't on the same level as the other top SAF prospects.

Its gonna be interesting to watch the SAFs side-by-side at the Senior Bowl practices and see how they effect the draftnik perceptions and our own opinions/preconceptions going forward.

Player that stood out to me from this weekend NFLPA Bowl:
    Jordan Campbell OLB
    Brad Sorensen QB
    Jordan Rodgers QB

Yeah basically Fluker and Pugh already had done 4 years and had their degrees. That allowed them to be in the Senior Bowl

If he runs as fast as Silva projects he will go alot earlier then people expect. This writeup is pretty accurate on my thoughts as well. This kid is a flatout playmaker that will pop you.

For me its: Mallaciah Goodman; Trevardo Williams, Duke Williams and of course TJ McDonald vs Phillip Thomas vs Brambo

I think Tyler Wilson is gonna be the creme of the QB crop

I'm without a tv for the foreseeable future and locked down with assignments.

Please let me know what going on with his base strength vs the competition level and specifically whether his technique changes at all or if he wrinkles in something new.

If I could wish for something, it would to be there myself, to see with my own eyes.

Considering I had a chance to be there as well its sad that I can't be down. Phil Savage has done an amazing job getting top end talent there for this.

Anyone like Dexter McCoil FS out of Tulsa? He caught my eye...

May seem strange but the Washington Redskins spent a ton of time with Lane Johnson/T/Okla

Also, per Zac Boyer, Skins worked out OT Brian Simmons from the CFL. Went to Oklahoma and was a team mate of our own Trent Williams.

Not really looking too much into it, just putting this out there. Carry on.
