Where is Tom Wort, position to go this year? I remember people were considering him to be a 1st round talent last year.
Remember Raheem Morris was his coach back in Tampa so I am 100% sure that Redskins new about this 3rd incident. From what I remember, Redskins knew that T Jackson was going to get suspended but they were thinking that Jackson was going to get suspended for part of the season and not for the entire season. I mean the suspension was announced after the appeal process had already taken place. (according to Paulson's tweet)
Also again from my memory, only reason that T Jackson was not suspended when he had the third violation during his time in Tampa was due to the impeding labor dispute and the league wanted to hold off any decision until it was resolved first. The part that really upset the coaches was that the league could have informed the Redskins of their decision to suspend him for the ENTIRE year earlier than instead of waiting until the end of the preseason. Kind of mimic what happened with the cap penalty, the league's timing did not give Redskins much flexibility to deal with the situation at all.
I think the Redskins bring him back. All of the coaches speak highly of the guy despite the marijuana problems. Also it does look like Redskins knew of the possible suspension of T Jackson and STILL kept him on the team which leads me to believe that maybe there is something there for the Redskins to believe that TJ could be a contributing member on the team despite his problems. Yes TJ did get suspended for the entire year but I dont think the initial assessment shouldnt have changed because Redskins already knew about this.
Only thing I remember at T Jax is the fans stating the same sentiment about this guy... he can't tackle worth a damn and they were not sad to see him go. I'd let him compete for a job but I don't want the Kareem Moore project again.
So the Redskins signed a guy who has been suspended twice. He just came off a suspension that was longer than a season. They watch his team release him. They now know he has a third violation. But figured this time once the league would get to it they would take it easier on the dude than the prior violation? So lets sign the guy. Even going with your best case scenario, they sign a guy to take care of the team's #1 weaknesses knowing that he has been suspended for parts of 2009, 2010, 2011, and is about to be suspended for at least part of 2012. Maybe. But it seems at best if all of this was going down this way, they'd know its a crap shoot.
Well, should be interesting, the guys covering the team as far as I noticed aren't counting on him back. Yeah I know they like him as a player, he's talented -- but the marijuana is what it is, I am sure Tampa liked him too. Heck, if he's clean, and Shanny wants him back i got no issues with it. Right now, I am assuming we need a free safety.

yup,
that is why you saw Tanard Jackson get the contrac that was only 1 year (700k) with no signing bonus. Basically Raheem Morris knows the guy more than anyone and we can sign him for a no risk / high reward contract so it was a no brainer decision in my mind.

Of course the way it played out, it was not a no risk situation as we ended up planning our defense with the intention of TJ being back starting FS and got hit with a 1 year suspension. Hurt our team since our backup plans did not work out. Now the team know what they have in TJ so if they truely believe that the marijuana problem is behind him then why would they not bring him back especially if they can get him a contract that has absolutely no guaranteed money.
Although it is hard for me to give any sympathy to TJ since he did this all to himself but the suspension was especially painful as it might cost him two seasons. If Goodell holds up the suspension for the full year then TJ will miss ALL of workouts and training camp. Basically TJ will not have many suitors for his services other than the Redskins until possibly 2014.
Would like us to consider drafting Datone Jones from UCLA for Defensive Line.
Interesting read. I saw a lot of Sharrif Floyd as Gators fan but that high? He is loaded with talent but it doesn't always show.
Ex-Chiefs G.M. ranks the top-ten draft-eligible underclassmenPosted by Evan Silva on January 28, 2013, 12:04 PM EST
Peter King’s latest Monday Morning Quarterback column contains a segment with ex-Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli where Pioli ranks the top-ten underclassmen available for April’s NFL draft. It’s a rare glimpse into an NFL General Manager’s mindset regarding draft opinions front-office decision makers keep so secret.
Pioli was fired on January 4, but his work on this year’s underclassmen is still relatively fresh. Underclassmen don’t participate in the late-January all-star game circuit. All that is currently available on them is college tape. And Pioli was doing tape and scouting work until his dismissal.
Pioli ranks Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel as the top underclassman eligible for the 2013 draft, calling him a “strong candidate” to be selected first overall. Pioli’s former team, of course, holds the No. 1 pick.
Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner, Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, Florida State defensive end Bjoern Werner, and Ohio State defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins make up the rest of Pioli’s top five.
Alabama running back Eddie Lacy is sixth, and Pioli envisions him as an “every-down back” in the NFL with “low mileage” after playing behind Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson his first two seasons.
Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones, Cal receiver Keenan Allen, Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree, and San Diego State tight end Gavin Escobar round out the top ten.
Jones, who is ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper’s top-rated overall prospect for the 2013 draft, has some concerns, according to Pioli. Pioli calls Jones a potentially “tough positional fit” in the NFL due to tweener-type size and noted that Jones dominated in certain games while disappearing in others.
OK wonder why though they'd think that after the 2nd strike warranted a severe penalty that the third strike would warrant a lesser penalty. I thought as you have more violations the league gets tougher not easier on you. Regardless, my overall point has zero to do with what the Redskins knew versus didn't know, its can you count on a player who in a short football career has already been suspended for 39 games.

Article from (yes, I know) Bleacher report, but at least he was a former NFL player.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Floyd go top 10. He's a ridiculous player just inconsistent, but that hasn't stopped teams in the past from drafting a player
