I'd guess 3 on down after the statistical year he's coming off. (Although that has more to do with the pass happy O's OU faces more than Wort dropping off IMHO.). Though I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in the second given his potential. He'd be perfect for us IMHO to take over from Fletch, as he's a Fletch type clone. Undersized pocket rocket. Quick, instinctive, great fundamentals and one tough SOB for someone so undersized. His coverage skills need work, though he has the speed and athleticism.

I'd love him. An English Sooner on the Redskins ..... I'ma saying NOTHING!

    Hail.

As it were, I'd still want him to stand up in two-point as a strongside OLB, rather than bogged down at 5-Tech. At least in the way that the Skins scheme right now.

Utilize the speed and quickness and his hand technique for rush. Though experienced at 5-Tech under Spanos, scheme diverse enough to play multiple roles and the rest, I'd only use that alignment in known passing situations, with the additional OLB rusher, flared to his wing (rak or ryan).

In case that Rak has lingering injury issues, Jones could slide into that OLB role. Very lean for his 280 lbs.

The overload blitz that the Skins used a bunch toward the end of the season, where 3 guys attack the edge Tackle, The DE at 5-Tech into the body, the OLB on the outside shoulder and the safety going wide, that combo was a successful blitz for us. Jones, in the 5-Tech in that role, could see dividends.

Otherwise, I like him as an OLB.

Yeah, I think he was saying that only in the case of the best DT talent in the draft falling all the way to us would he be okay taking one.

If Geno doesn't go #1 I'd almost say he's a lock at #2 then to Jax

I would gladly take Kawann Short in the 2nd round (should we be so lucky)

If not that I would also take Slyvester Williams if he makes it the 3rd round

A stronger pass rush would strengthen our secondary.

However better and more reliable safeties (that can sniff out a screen) can help let the d-line just pin their ears back and go.

I think having a secondary that can tackle and tries to always be around the ball, is like a safety net for the pass rushers. They don't have to think or account for every little play fake quite as much.

I do think we could stand to upgrade the DL, but at the same time the Secondary is the bigger issue for this team

    Amen.
A DE that can penetrate, especially in base personnel is worth their weight in gold.
But, alas, penetrating 34 DL are hard to find.

    alas. wtf....smh at myself

A lot of the very good interior d-line penetrators seem to be guys like were quick/athletic tweeners that bulked up in the pro's. Not all of them can bulk a bit without losing their speed, but I believe Justin Smith, Henry Melton, and that guy on the Bengals all entered the league lighter than they are now.

So my question though, is if Datone Jones seems like the type of guy who could add 10 pounds and be a 5 tech, but it'd be nice.
