I'd love the Watson pick except for two things:

1. I think he'll go before we pick.
2. I don't see us taking an OL in the 2nd unless he's the BPA by far, which I really don't see happening.

I dont see us going RT either in round 2. If we take one it'll be a mid or late round pick again

I feel like the coaching staff is pretty high on Compton and thinks we can have success without a high draft pick addressing it. It's not Shanahan's MO. I would really like to grab Long though later in the draft. Where is he projected?

First of all haven´t had a lot of time this year to really track the pre-draft proces. So I rely on some mock sites and what I have seen durning the season. Normal I would go BPA, but kinda hard in a mock unless you are projecting every pick.

Our needs: Safety, Corner, TE (if sleepy doesn't resign), OT, WR (slot), NT, Depth at LB.

2 round:

There will be WR's. A lot of interesting WR's and where they will go really depends on there workouts the next month. And I could see some drop to us. But at the end I think we will go for the plug and play safety, who will start from day 1.

If Elam is there, no brainer. He won't so then I would focus on Cyprien and Thomas (Phillip, Fresno). I really like Cyprien, only I believe Cyprien is a STRONG safety who is limited in coverage. I think we need more of a safety who can play center field and in that case Phillip Thomas is a better fit. At the senior bowl practise he just looked great in droppingback and he has some good INT numbers, so he must be doing something well (in the mountain west, what is pretty much pass happy).

With pick 51, the Washington Redskins select: Phillip Thomas, FS, Fresno State.

3 round.

I love the third round, this is where you need to choose between the less talented player, physical wise, and the super athletic people but who didn't show it on the field or have issues.

We just picked up Thomas but I'm still looking at Rambo. I think he would fill the SS spot really nice. He is a good hitter, solid in coverage and has really good feel for the game. Only people will kill me if I pick two safety's after each other.

There might be a corner worth taking but I will go out of the box and pick up, Gavin Escobar. He is a hybrid TE. Saw some clips on youtube of this guy and I like it a lot. We like to move people around and also move Griffing around with boothlegs, playaction, etc. What I see then is that a Logan Paulsen get's free pretty easy but there it kinda stops. He catches and thats it. I think the Escobar can catch and then get more YAC. Do more with the ball in his hands. The TE looks to get open a lot in this scheme, so I like to add this guy as a upgrated weapon over the current TE's.

Jordan Reed could be an other option but I think his blocking skills are just not good enough for our off.

With pick 85, the Washington Redskins select: Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego St.

4 round:

This is getting hard to project because all draftboards and mocks show different players here.

I think Xavier Nixon could be solid pick here. (yes I'm a Gators fan, how did you notice that ) He will be a good RT i.m.o. He has all the tools. Not the most athletic player but I think he can do it all.

With pick 116, the Washington Redskins select: Xavier Nixon, OT, Florida.

5 round:

I want to take a shot at I player I think has a lot of talent but also lacks some technique.Tharold Simon. Long and plays very physical only he has some serious backpedel issues. I would want to work on that with him. He has a lot of natural talent, now he needs to put some serious effort in maximizing that by practising day in and day out his backpeddel and c.o.d. Don't think he will see the field a lot in year one, but he is talented.

With pick 147, the Washington Redskins select: Tharold Simon, CB, LSU.

Our second 5th rounder.

I took a hard long look at Brad Wing. A punter! Only he had a little down season this year and when doing some research on him I question if he is ready to enter the grown up world .
It looks like this guy is still in full college party mode. Nothing wrong with that, only I want our punter to be 100% pro. Don't underestimate the punter position, takes hard work. So I passed on that idea.

And went for Travis Johnson from San Jose St. This guy sounds like a less talented version of Ryan Kerrigan. He has been very productive with his hand in the ground, smart guy, very hard worker (not my opinion, that's what the draft world says). I think he can bring solid depth.

6 round:

When scrolling threw the 6th round players I saw the name Josh Boyd come up. I remember him. He showed some flashes at DT. Maby he looked good because of Fletcher Cox, who is a beast, but I want to find that out on my own. Let's just draft him and see how he works out at DE in our scheme.

7 round:

I would take Marquess Wilson but I have this feeling that someone might take a shot at him at a higher round after his workouts. Because he has a interesting skills set. He is talented.

Then I found out about Jasper Collins. Yes, ofcours we have seen this guy dominate at Mount union . Okey nobody saw this man play football but he sounds very interesting. He doesn't have elite speed but he had quickness and good route running. He might be able to develop in a good slot WR. And which NFL team can say they have two Mount Union WR's on the field? No-one. Ready for division III WR domination! XD

I would think that with this draft being "loaded" with skill position and in demand position players, there should be some starting quality RT's available in the 3rd or maybe even early 4th.
Thoughts?

I do believe that there will be quality OT's in those rounds. A guy like Xavier Nixon would be a good fit

If you buy the current mocks, he's going late first, early 2nd. But you never know, on draft day WRs tend to fall lower than expected. I'd guess Austin is less likely to fall though for the reason that his style is so unique -- as you know, Percy Harvin style you can use him to catch the ball, run the ball, gadget plays, etc. I'd love him in this offense especially with the triple option.

Part of me wonders if Tavon runs in the high 4.4's to the mid 4.5's if he'd slip in the draft. His game isn't really all about straight line speed, so it's possible he could post a low Combine time and fall because of it. But he'd have to run pretty bad for that to happen.

I find myself wishing Kelce would suffer a minor injury or fail a drug test or something, so that he'll fall to our pick in the 3rd. Not that I'm that selfish.

If he runs anything between a 4.45 and a 4.5, he's gone by our pick. The only question about him is speed; route running, hands, YAC, versatility, return game. He's got everything else. If somehow he gets North of that then we have the slimmest of chances, but even then I think it would take trading up a few spots to get him if we wanted him.

At this point I think it's more about trying to nail down what kind of receiver we'll be looking for if we look to get one. Are we looking for that Percy Harvin type, or are we looking for a guy that compliments Garçon on the outside.
