See aboveWhat if we signed Corey Lynch ... would that bump the need for a drafted FS up to 2nd/3rd round still? If nothing other than for depth? Or, if you sign someone like Kenny Phillips, does that make it more likely that the team addresses either FS or SS ... maybe getting someone like Cyprien if he is there in the 2nd who can play both? Obviously, if you sign Phillips you don't intend on having anyone else play that position for a long time ... so would you go SS to have someone replace Meriweather beyond 2013? That sounds like it would make the most sense
I don't view Tyrann as a FS. I view Mathieu as a NB/KR and consequently wouldn't target him because I would always look to find an DB that has the potential to play both CB and NB.Would you target the Honey Badger to play nickel and get spot time at FS?
I don't think it requires all those assumptions and hypotheticals to go BPA. But, sure if every need is addressed via FA then it makes sense to go BPA.~many hypotheticals......That would be a great off-season and would truly allow us to go BPA in the draft...
Like to see trading Hall and Moss for 2nd round picks;Patroits could use them and not have to wait on draft choices to mature for 3 years.
Like to see trading Cousins for no.1 pick , as do not see a first round QB pick in this years draft.
Like to trade Orakpo and Bowen for 2nd round picks; this would help our cap space.

Cousins will not get a No. 1 pick, and the Redskins will not trade him this year with RGIII's health in question. Maybe next off-season, but even then likely no more than a 2nd.
Why trade Orakpo and Bowen? Why trade people just to trade them? And who's to say those two would command 2nds?
I hope he's still in the 4-5th round range come April. I think Duke Williams is gonna move up the draftnik boards after the combine.

Cut: Jammal Brown, Carriker, Golston, Lichtensteiger, Meriweather, Cut and bring back Hall for less, work out something similar with Moss.
Bring Fletcher back.
I LOLed at his first sentence and pretty much made me ignore the rest. Since when have the Patriots "given away" draft picks? Haha, that was a good one. They don't do business that way.
Redskins 2013 Opponents:

2.) I don't get why you'd want to. When he was healthy and playing in his natural position I don't think there's any doubt he made our defense better. It's not his fault he had some bad luck with injuries this season.
Yeah he got cut by the Pats, but only after Belichick moved Meriweather from his natural position to free safety where he's less effective. And he wasn't a terrible free safety. (Also worth mentioning that Belichick is about to let the guy he replaced Meriweather with, Patrick Chung, walk into free agency too, and now still has a to fill a hole that he basically would've had filled if he'd just kept Meriweather at strong safety and Chung at free safety. Great coach, yes. Genius, no.)
He's not a Cover 2 safety and his season with the Bears was a wash. But I think he found his spot here.
If you cut him, you pretty much HAVE to draft a safety to replace him. You keep him and you sign someone like Lynch, and you can truly take a BPA available approach and not worry about screwing yourself over later.

Man alive that is an OT...cant wait to see how he moves but the size is almost spot on
If Meriweather had been healthy all season, we probably win a couple more games easy, while Doughty did decently, Meriweather is a high level starting strong safety who makes the box his ***** on a consistent basis.
And speaking of the Pats, that secondary is a huge mess. I would think that Belichick would now do everything in his power to hold onto Chung and Talib, considering they just lost Dennard. If either of those guys walk into FA, they will have a big hole to fill, and that was the big problem last year. Belichick should be smarter than that.
Anybody see Stanford TE Levine Toilolo?

Meriweather played 2 quarters of good football this year. For me that is not enough to make up for being 29 years old and recovering from a torn ACL after having knee problems all season. You have to go back 2 seasons to find the Brandon Meriweather that was close to being a good Safety. These factors make Meriweather a replaceable/upgradeable player in my book. In an NFL where teams a fretting over cutting good players I wouldn't bat an eye lash if Meriweather were cut.
C est la vie.
If Meriweather comes back I will root for him as I did when he was signed and I will hope for the best, but that's a lot of hope.
And as we know, hope is not a strategy.
I would rather approach the season with a SS prospect with a cleaner projection based on recent history and age.
