So you've got your 1st rounders, Joeckel, Fisher, and Johnson. Beyond that is Fluker, who is WAAAAAAAAYYYY too big to be in the ZBS. For a while I thought Menelik Watson might be good, but then he went and posted crappy 3-cone and 20 yard shuffle times.

Then you've got some guys who were tackles in college, but project more like OGs in the NFL, and weren't really bona-fide 2nd rounders anyway, guys like Kyle Long and Dallas Thomas. Kyle Long is probably the one guy I'd feel ok about taking at 51 besides the top 3, though I pretty much guarantee he won't be BPA with all the DB and WR talent lying around this year.

Beyond that in rounds 3, 4, and 5 there are some good names though, and if we go after someone, we might strike then. Guys like Pugh, Bakhtiari, Quessenberry, Nixon, Armstead, and Hawkinson are all guys I could see us taking at one point or another.

It's worth noting that Armstead probably goes before we pick in the 3rd thanks to his absurd combine, but in terms of skill he needs a year at least.

Two guys I previously liked, Oboushi and Wagner, had pretty underwhelming combines. Aboushi just crapped the bed hard at the combine, no two ways about it. Wagner was just below average too. Previously I thought Aboushi might be a 2nd rounder, and Wagner a 3rd or 4th, but both underwhelmed enough to drop them.

So yeah, DB or WR in the 2nd is probably best, and probably even in the 3rd. Start looking at OT again in the 4th, see who's left.
Really good info, thanks. I wasnt sure if there was a Jon Jansen type (mid 2nd, I think) that could potentially fall to us late 2nd.

That said, again, I can't wait to see who we pick up with the depth at DB.

What WR's do you see available at 51 that you would take over a very good DB that is sure to be available at that pick?
Special thanks to Son Of Washington

How about Mayock's #4 guy - URRIC Reid?

Also, I think Slay's combine performance will ultimately push him up to the 3rd.

People need to stop saying "Oh I watched his broad jump and 10 yard split, hes not explsive." ??
Just watch his Sophomore year on the field and he proved to be one of the most explosive players in College Football.
What happens on the field is much more important than these measurements

Dude, I have the weirdest boner right n-AHEM, I digress.

Yes, yes, and yes. Unfortunately, Wheaton in the 3rd is tough to see. He's just too ridiculous across the board to not jump into the 2nd. Stedman Bailey or Ryan Swope might be there to snag though along with some others.

The other two picks are possible though. Reid should push Cyprian down a bit with his combine, so he might be there, and Slay is probably there in the 4th too.

I think it's pretty likely that Patterson, Allen, and Austin all go in the first, and we might see a 4th go (the AJ Jenkins style pick), but I don't think anyone is really obvious.

2nd round guys are Hopkins, Hunter, Williams, Woods, Wheaton, Patton, and maybe Dobson and Rogers too. There's a lot of talent, barring a 2008-like 2nd round where everyone and their CFL farm team goes WR, there should be someone really good at 51.

Woods, Hopkins, Rogers, and Hunter are all juniors though. Not that that should necessarily invalidate them but it probably makes Williams, Wheaton, and Patton a bit more likely.

What I really really hope is that WR is deep enough that one of the above named guys falls to us in the 3rd. Somewhat doubtful, but 11 WRs is a lot to get through in 83 picks, so we might get lucky.

    Q. You have two guys in the Combine that are probably late round picks. Where do you see them ending up?

MAYOCK: I disagree on [Shamarko] Thomas. I think Shamarko Thomas is one of the better safeties I've seen on tape. And I would give him a third or fourth round grade at the worst. Saw him at the East‑West game. Really liked him. He's short. He's tough as nails. I'd love to see him run well.

I'm sorry, that has to go into the TOOC thread.

If you don't get at least a little aroused from a Cyprian/Wheaton/Slay, 2/3/4 combo, then you might have ED or Low-T and should see your doctor.

Any chance Jamar Taylor is there at #51 after his performance today?

Thanks alot, good stuff! I didnt realize the draft was so deep at WR. Getting another contributor in our offense wouldnt suck. But with our cap penalty situation we're limited in free agency, so it's not a given that we'll go into the draft having addressed our secondary, which would obviously make WR a luxury, one of which we can't afford.

A lot depends on free agency, per usual.

For not having a 1st round pick, Im getting pumped for the draft. It is luckily full of guys at positions of need. It would be HUGE to pull 2-3 legitimate starters out of this draft.

How about injecting the Redskins secondary with a little LSU blood?

With Eric Reid in the second round...

And then Tyran Mathieu in the third round...

These boys could lock down things on our back end for years to come!

I know shanny's taken chances in the past on guys with issues outta college, but since he's been here, he hasn't. He's got a pretty definitive strategy and I don't think they are going to veer away from it. I hope Reid, Elam, or Cyprien fall to us

I would love the first one, but I doubt he's around by our pick. He probably goes late 1st, or early 2nd. I could see Baltimore taking him at 32 pretty easily if Reed leaves. Replace Reed with Reid and all that. More likely someone like Cyprien will reach us, which is possible if safeties don't get snatched up quickly in the 2nd.
