In the last 5 years, there have been on average 13 or 14 WR's drafted within the first 2 days. I don't think people are necessarily inflating, but rather the whole order is going to be shuffled around from what we think. Interestingly, CBS prospect rankings roughly fits the idea of 13 or 14 going in the first 2 days as well.

    2012 - 13
    2011 - 11
    2010 - 13
    2009 - 15
    2008 - 15

Makes sense. Morgan and Garcon are physical, Hankerson could be physical. Aldrick Robinson doesn't have the size for it, but also can't get open deep consistently enough. Drafting a speedster like Goodwin kind of spells doom for Robinson. It shows they clearly aren't satisfied with him.

I'm sticking with TJ McDonald as the Safety for us... Love the young man's attitude and his size and pedigree are going to help him a ton. I can see this guy playing for a long time in the league. I'd take him at 51 and Swope in the 3rd.

I like him as a SS for playing in the box and matching up with the TE's... Bring back Meriweather and let McDonald share some time to get acquainted.

People seem to rank him in the 4th now, which means we'd have to take him in the 3rd, and I'd be ok with that if one of the safety prospects doesn't fall to us in the 2nd.

That said, McDonald really did crush the combine. Vertical and Broad Jump (two categories both our DB's we drafted last year excelled in) are elite. He's got a 10 yard split that really only Eric Reid beats. For all we know we'd have to grab him in the 2nd.

Harper kinda reminds me of Niles Paul too. Wouldn't want him anyway.

I said a while back to watch Goodwin. I am also an advocate for Ace Sanders. They would be great fits here.

I would like an upgrade over Morgan though.

Yes. He's one of the best route runners in the class IMO.

On reflection you are right. I recall Devin Thomas in most mocks was a first rounder and in some as high as the Bills pick which if i recall was about #11. He ended up in the 2nd round, of course. Few predicted Avery would be the first WR taken in that draft like he was. Hankerson I recall as a high 2nd in most mocks. He goes in the late third and there were guys that went ahead of them like Pettis that didn't play out that way in most mocks. Randle was projected mostly as a late first rounder or early 2nd, he went later -- this one am not sure about but i don't think Broyles was ahead of him in most mocks.

am looking around for old mocks heres a 2012 one from King right before the draft

I think the best you can do with WR's is to just ballpark the pick. Like this dude might be a late 2nd rounder +/- 30 picks. The WR draft order fluctuates so much.

Yes! I am so tired of speed demons who continually drop passes! Give me WRs who can actually catch!

I'd agree with that, to that point, in this draft especially post combine I'd say off the top of my head Patton, Wheaton, and T. Williams might be hard to predict

Well again, I'm not sure how this applies to me *shrugs* My statement was:

Still deeper then last year, but not as deep as I thought.
A number of SAF have important Pro Days coming up: Cyprien, Rambo, Swearinger, Jefferson
I didn't say I was moving them down I said they had important Pro Days coming up and they do.
But, if Rambo, Jefferson and Swearinger performances don't stack up to the other SAF then of course they will move down and SAF that performed better will move up. That's how the combine works. The combine adds clarity. It can help separate players that are clumped together. It can help bridge knowledge gaps.
E.g. you liked what you saw from Tyrann and therefore have moved him up.

But, if Rambo, Jefferson, (Cyprien & Thomas) and Swearinger don't perform well at their pro-days I won't have to move them far or at all because based on the film prior to the combine I didn't have them high to begin with. For the most part the combine performances of the SAF group confirmed my opinions and rankings from film.

Besides Garçon, what speed demons are talking about??

And I think Ace Sanders is a "speedy" guy that CAN catch. Just bc a guy is fast and or quick doesn't mean he can't catch.

Someone compared Harper to Niles in here...why? Because they are/were both stocky and built for WR's? That's ridiculous. Harper has incredibly soft hands and a good catch radius for a guy his size. Niles...Niles wishes he was half as natural plucking the ball as Harper is in his sleep.

    Default Early Draft Day Hypothetical

Its pick #51 Vaccaro, Reid, Elam, Cyprien along with Patton, Wheaton, Williams and Hunter are already off the board.

    What do you do?

Amerson, if he's there is my first thought.

I'd be content to wait on S. Thomas or D.J. Swearinger in the 3rd/4th.
