I also looked at WalterFootball's latest mock. I wonder if the FO would take Elam even though he is a junior. We've only picked seniors under this regime if I'm not mistaken. I still like Phillip Thomas in that spot. Swope would be fine in the 3rd round if we cut Santana for cap space. Otherwise, I'd take a look at Escobar at TE, Quessenberry at OL, or Logan Ryan at CB -- all available, quality players at positions of need. In the 4th round, I'd take Webb over Gratz.

Don´t under estimate Elam. He is a very natural leader on and off the field. Not the Ray Lewis type, but more a quite leader. He works hard and has a good football IQ. He just pumps-up the people around him. Not by beeing loud but by playing hard and with a lot of fun.

I don´t see any reason why you would pass on him because he is a junior.

Only reason why I would consider a other Safery is because he is more of a SS. Good blitzer and box player, not the best in coverage.

I like Elam very much. I just think that the FO doesn't draft anyone but seniors.

I'll chime in that I agree with people hyping up Honey Badger's instincts. He anticipates the game so well. All aspects of it. His ball skills are fantastic. You see him handle tough passes and recover fumbles at high speed and realize this kid has a remarkable feel for the ball. Some people have a gift for understanding angles in real time and for feeling how the ball moves. Tremendous hand-eye coordination too. You see it commonly in the great basketball players. Like Larry Bird. No one ever made more BS shots and passes than him, he just had the greatest feel for the ball and for angles.

The only concern I have about Honey Badger is his weed smoking. Nothing with his game. The weed issue is annoying to me because it's not something I think the league should even trouble themselves with and I think it's BS they pillory some players for smoking pot while there is probably a ridiculous amount of juicing going on that they won't do anything about. But that's a whole different discussion.

Anyway, I hope losing everything helped wake him up and got him to quit smoking for good and focused him on making the most of his second chance. Sometimes that's what it takes. Especially for someone with so much God given ability.

    ---------- Post added March-7th-2013 at 09:41 AM ----------

Also I wanted to say that Honey Badger plays the game with the passion and intensity of a great player. Defensive players like him are so special, they leave their hearts out on the field.

That's the way Sean played. I get why people are striking up that intangible comparison between ST and Honey Badger.

Here's my mock. I'm using CBS for approximate rankings. I know it won't happen this way:

    rd 2 - Manti Te'o
    rd 3 - Honey Badger
    rd 4 - Oday Aboushi

or I like this a lot:

Trade down from the second round into the third and fourth:

    rd 3 - Honey Badger
    rd 3 - Rambo
    rd 4 - Aboushi
rd 4 - Cobi Hamilton or Montee Ball if he's still there.

    http://blogs.nfl.com/2013/03/06/mont...nsins-pro-day/

....Montee Ball, RB (5-foot-10 3/4, 210 pounds) — Ball ran the 40-yard dash in 4.51 and 4.49 seconds. He had a 4.31-second short shuttle and a 11.26-second 60-yard shuttle. Ball’s 40 times were considerably faster than the 4.66 official time he posted at the NFL Scouting Combine, but a fast running surface could be partly responsible for that improvement. Ball — the Football Bowl Subdivision record-holder for most career touchdowns (83) — looked very good in his workout, and could be the second running back off the board in the 2013 NFL Draft....

They'll draft an underclassman eventually. RGIII was technically a Jr too although he was a four year starter.

He had already graduated, right? How would that make him a junior?

*Shrugs* I don't think being a SR is make or break. I'm sure its part of the decision making process all things being equal. 2 Things Elam has going for him: he's a team Captain, and he's one of the top SAF prospects.
If Elam is there at pick 51 I would be surprised if they pass on him.

I'm guessing these guys will be off the board by the 4th round. Mike S./Bobby Turner don't need and typically don't draft a RB as high as these guys are projected to go.
    But, I like both backs.

DG already answered it but they are later round guys except for Simon. Before this year started I had a feeling Simon could rise up, but he disappointed and showed stiff hips. Have heard about McCray being that he's an FCS guy, just need to go watch more of him along with Hester

I just watched Simon vs Texas A&M and Clemson (bowl game), and you're right. Stiff hips, seems a bit like an understatement by only calling them stiff. How are sites giving him a 4-5 round grade?

For being 6'2 and 205, you'd think he'd be better at press, but he's had a lot of issues there. He lunges sometimes and misses, or when he does get a good jam he'll be more off balance than the receiver.

Sometimes it's not just his hips, maybe his whole lower body. Sometimes he'll play off a guy, and back pedal only to see the guy do a hitch right in front of him. Simon will taken another step backwards after the receiver has already turned around. I'm not sure what to call it, he doesn't have light feet?

How does it sound? You sound like Vinny Cerrato.

I think thats a pretty valid description of him AZ. Its just so tough to watch him because of the talent he has. I know he can be a starter, but those hips are just an issue.

Your class is determined by your years of eligibility remaining, not your academic or degree status. It's not that unusual to get guys who are seniors who already have their bachelor's and are pursuing graduate degrees.

I would go with Ball over Ellington. I don't think Ellington is that good personally. Would having two Alfred Morris's be a bad thing?
