Yes. Brad Wing. Dukes and Skins mentioned him. He is good but had a run in with the law. The punter from Hawaii has a good leg too.

IF we don't sign Rocca before FA then I think that means we are going in a different direction with our punter. JMO. Of course they still might be looking to resign him but I think the injury he suffered last year and his age might be a concern.

Don't know all the players well enough to mock it out. However, if FA goes as it seems that it will (We lose Carriker, Hall, Moss...we pick up one Safety and one CB) I'd like to see us draft the following positions.

For the 2nd and 3rd rounds I want us taking a CB and a Free Safety.

For rounds 4 and 5 I'd like to see us pick up a 3-4 Defensive End, a Righ Tackle, and a "Flex" player (pass catching RB or a WR good after the catch)

For rounds 6 and 7 I'd like to see us pick up another Safety and a MLB for depth.

Depth in draft would wish Bruce would trade our 3rd pick this year and next year for 49ers 2nd,4th,2 5ths,2 6ths and 2 7ths as they do not need that many picks.

I'm sure we'll sign a mid-level cb to replace Hall. We probably should go db but I wouldn't be upset if we went a different way either, as at this point we still have plenty of holes to fill. We'll get a better idea after FA rolls around.

With a bleak cap situation, I'm thinking trade back in the second to try and net an extra 3rd.

I don't agree, I think we need all the talent we can get. We need first day starters on this defense.

And how do you know that can't be done by trading back 15/20 places in the draft and then getting an extra 3rd round pick in the process..?

How do you know that it can be done? No telling what the draft will bring until we get there.

Well, we probably wouldn't get two 3rds for our 2nd simply by virtue of the team we're trading with needing two 3rd rounders this year. We could net an extra early 4th round and probably a pick on top of that. If a player a team really wants is sitting there at 51 we might have a trading partner, and we could end up with something like two 3rds, two 4ths, and three 5ths.

But on the whole I'm opposed to the whole quantity thing this year, we should go quality. We still have a lot of guys from the 2011 and 2012 draft classes, I would rather we maybe package some picks, maybe trade our two 5ths and our 7th to get back into the 4th, and have a 2nd, 3rd, two 4ths, and then a pick in the 6th for Shanny's inevitable runningback pick. I think we could get contributors at each of those picks. Hit FS, CB, WR, and either OT (if we re-sign Davis) or TE (if we don't), with those four picks (in no particular order), then RB in the 6th, and then get the best undrafted punter available.

This is a deep draft. There is value in picks 51-100ish
I hope our FO finds away to make/have a 3 of selections in this range.

    ---------- Post added March-12th-2013 at 11:40 AM ----------

    Possible scenario:

o Swap 2nd rounders with a team looking for a specific player @ pick 51 and pick up additional 4th round pick
o Trade both 4th rounders for a 3rd round pick

If we want 3 picks, I think we'd have to trade out of the 2nd round. And we've got two 5th's, not two 4th's.

But I'm right there with you in wishing we could have 3 picks in the top 100.

Anyone else think Lavar Edwards (the backup DE at LSU) could be a sleeper? His grade seems to be in the 4th-5th round range. But if you watch him, it seems like he could be a natural transition to OLB in a 3-4. He contributes on Special Teams too.

AZ I think DG was referencing taking the 4th that we got in the 1st trade and using it in the 2nd one to move up
