This is your draft board for guys you think would be there after round 1? I'm curious why you left some guys off, such as Poyer, McFadden, Alford, Webb.

I've only seen one cut-up of Brandon McGee, but I liked what I saw.

I feel like there will be a lot of differing opinions about this. But in my mind, its Elam and Poyer by far. I simply do not think Amerson should step onto an NFL field any down that isn't 3rd and long. His effort and tackling ability is embarrassing. I don't think he's an NFL player, I do think he'd be MVP of a touch football league though.

Ok, so that's a bit of a hyperbole. But you get the point, the guy can't tackle. On that note, Poyer's a bit below average in the tackling department as well.

I'm going to quote my own post here and kind of do a 180. This morning I was just very anti-guys who can't tackle. I don't think it's so cut and dry. Poyer is basically a slot corner. He guarded the slot guy I think over 40% of his snaps. There are a lot of questions with him, tendencies he has, and issues with how he plays zone. For example, I think he can do short/intermediate zones on the perimeter, but he can't do a Cover 3. He gets beat a little too much. I don't know if this is coachable, but he seems to wait too long to pick up his man against bunch formations.

Having some fun with the post-comp pick value chart on some trade-downs:

Scenario 1:
Trade 2(51) to SF for 2(61), 4(128) & 4(131) -- trade value: 390 to 378
Lose: 2nd
Gain: 2nd, 4th & 4th

Scenario 2:
Trade 2(51) to TEN for 3(70), 3(97) & 5(142) -- trade value: 390 to 387
Lose: 2nd
Gain: 3rd, 3rd & 5th

Scenario 3:
Trade 2(51) to SF for 3(74), 3(93) & 4(131) -- trade value: 390 to 389
Lose: 2nd
Gain: 3rd, 3rd & 4th

Scenario 4:
Trade 2(51) to KC for 3(63) & 3(99) -- trade value: 390 to 380
Lose: 2nd
Gain: 3rd, 3rd

Scenario 5:
Trade 2(51) to JAX for 3(64) & 3(98) -- trade value: 390 to 378
Lose: 2nd
Gain: 3rd, 3rd

Scenario 6:
Trad 2(51) to HOU for 2(57) & 4(124) -- trade value: 390 to 378

Lots of teams with lots of picks and a talent-rich 2nd and 3rd round draft should equate to plenty of teams looking to move up for "one guy" they like, giving teams wanting to trade back some leverage... Those are just some scenarios that I would be in favor of.

I'm still struggling with what Drafttek database has for some players v. what our scouting aficionados are saying ... for example, they have Duke Williams in the 7th, whereas many on here have said he will be gone in the 4th. Same with Dwayne Gratz, going in the late 6th on Drafttak v. some on here saying 3-5th round range, and Gavin Escobar going late 4th on Drafttek v. 2nd on here after the combines ... and finally Darius Slay, who some on here have said will go in the 2nd, but he is around in the mid-3rd on Drafttek. So obviously there are discrepancies and players will go higher than slated and some will fall well below where many thought they would go. In the end it all comes down to what our scouts and personnel advisers think and who is there when we pick. That being said, here is what I put together (with some alternative picks provided) based on Scenario 3 ...

No FA CB or Fred Davis...
3rd (77): Darius Slay, CB Mississippi State
3rd (85): Ryan Swope, WR Texas A&M
3rd (93): TJ McDonald, FS USC

James, you thought about not doing drafttek and instead using other sites for round estimates? CBS isn't bad. NFL.com/draft has grades out.

I mean, there is not a whole lot to say about these mocks. I'd be in hog heaven if any of them happened, because we'd be getting steals in so many rounds. I just don't think its realistic.

OK - so for some of you guys who are more informed then I when it comes to prospects, which duo is better?

I would prefer Amerson/McDonald.
Between Elam and McDonald its a push for me. But, I like Amerson's physical skillset and ballhawking.

Those are the corners I would have on my draft board starting in the 2nd round and down to the 7th round.

Projected in the late rounds, and i'm surprised. This guy has the physical tools and with an accurate quarterback (like we have) he could be a steal in the 5/6/7th.

You're right I forgot CBS gets their rankings from nfldraftscout.
No doubt it would be hard but imho it would be worth it to take advantage of this years draft class depth and value and next year there will be more cap space if we need to lean more on FA.

Hindsight is 20-20. I think we can all be really glad we spent a 4th rounder on Kirk Cousins.

That said, I'm definitely expecting some oddball scratching the head draft picks, that will hopefully be looking towards the future.

I can proudly say I was one of those who was happy with the Cousins move when it happened.

On the flip side, I think that the Skins really need to pick up Cooper Taylor, great size/speed dude is 6'4" 230 runs a 4.5.
Would be a monster on ST right off the bat IMO.

Yea for me, I wasnt upset, I actually wanted the Skins to pick up 2 QBs, with exception. I was hoping it was RG3 and Tannahill/Wilson.

RG3/Tannahill was before a bunch of QB decided to go back to school.

RG3/Wilson, sound like Shanny had the idea also, except Carroll took Wilson in the 3rd, if he was there when we took Kirk, he would be a Skins.

Which brings me to Denard, If for a late rounder I wouldnt mine having him, he would add another option for him to pass.
