Thread: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database

I remember seeing something about vertical + broad jump + 10 yard split being a more accurate measurement of overall explosiveness. With agility drills taking a back seat in correlation to how many games they tend to start in the NFL. So, anyone know the 10 yard splits of these guys?

I haven't found a reliable source for the 10 yard splits. I'm sure it will come out soon, it always does.

But I know that Lane Johnson had the fastest 10 yard for the offensive linemen.

Quessenberry and Hawkinson look interesting to me, they both are probably mid rounders, or maybe later, but they look to have the side to side quickness our tackles will need. Their strength is the one area of concern, Quessenberry had 25 reps, not bad, but closer to 30 would be better, and Hawkinson didn't bench, which is too bad, it would have been nice to see what he posted.

It's really too bad we're not in play for Lane Johnson, he just has all the measurables for tackle in the NFL, and would be an amazing addition. Oh well.

Anyone able to get a chance to see what Jordan Mills did today at the combine? I wanted to see it but didn't get a chance to.

Ok, I wanted to see if there were cut-ups from the week of practice on Armstead, from both the Shrine game and Senior Bowl. I still want to see the individual 1-on-1 matchups, but here's the shrine game itself.

On one of the crossing passes, it lead him him a good bit in-front, he just kept his body in form and extended his arms and hands out, full extension, some feet in-front of him, to reach and nab the ball. It looked so smooth.

He's a real good pass catcher. He's got incredible ability to reach beyond where he's at to get a ball, even though he's not an "athlete" like the other guys with their measuables.
Yeah he seemed to have smooth hands. Arguably one of RG III's weaknesses is sometimes he tends to over throw passes up the middle. I would think he'd benefit from a big target for intermediate routes with soft hands like Escobar who was a WR in high school. The 6 8" guy from Stanford, Toilolo is intriguing from that stand point, too. He averaged 16.4 a catch last season and he could be had I'd assume in later rounds. If I recall his 40 time was decent too.

    ^ TA vid, Shrine game:

@1:07 little bit of holding, not called. Looks like the DE got a step to the outside and TA had to reach out and hold.
@1:48 got jolted pretty good, was able to re-establish his anchor though.

Feet seem ok. Seems to move enough with his feet to reposition. Not the same as Fisher or L. Johnson though

@2:33 the defender gets the edge but TA pushes him wide and allows the QB to step-up to avoid. Maybe it could have been called for some holding there, had him in a hook around the neck - IDK, judgement call.

I haven't really seen him dominate someone, you know drive him back and bury him ...

@3:58 TA finishes a play the way I want to see. Actually takes him man to the ground, buries him and falls on top.
@4:17 There was an outside blitzer and a DE head-up. TA doesn't get either of them, whiffs on both. I guess he got mixed up and allowed big pressure, free run by both guys. Klein is able to get outside the pocket.

@4:26 - Same play different angle. TA just doesn't get either guy. If I had to err on one side, I would have tried to get the Blitzer who came wide. He didn't get either.

Did ok with some of those stunts there at the end. I wished he would have had more driving power though. After the initial hand-shiver it seemed he fell off a lot of blocks and didn't maintain the block while simultaneous running in space.

He's decent clay to mold. But I think his huge day at the combine underscores that he's a good and natural athlete but perhaps not the total package yet,as an OT.

There's a lot more to being a good tackle in the NFL and technique is just as important.

I'd feel ok about Armstead in the 3rd, but not before. 1st and 2nd round picks should generally not be missing anything in their toolbox physically, technically, and instinctively, and while Armstead is there physically; his speed is good (a little slower on the 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle, but not bad either) and he's strong in the upper body, he's got work to do on technique and on picking up blitzes.

If some team wants to take him in the 2nd or heck, 1st, let them, he needs a couple years before he's ready for prime-time.

I don't know where Armstead will be selected, but I would not select him in the 1st. All I know is that guys like Aboushi have crapped the bed here recently. It's really a guessing game. But from what I've seen, I'd rate him in the 3rd. But with other tackles falling apart, maybe he goes in the 2nd. But I'd wait.

I'll be honest. I don't think Watson is a 1st rounder. I mean I've seen stranger things, like Dontari Poe go in the 1st. But, I've seen him while at FSU and I'm well aware of his past and his back story. I've read up on him. I know that people want to project his upside based on that he's raw and new to the game - I just can't discount the technique of his, which needs work (among other things). I can extrapolate.

I like Armstead, but this infatuation with him the last few weeks is based off of numbers. Watching film and he has potential there's no question on that. You also have to realize its a risk as well to take a guy that raw. Looking at Trent hew as raw sure, but also was a guy who many felt could become into an all pro type. Do I feel the same about Armstead? Not sure really.

Again he's a high risk high reward guy, but in a ZBS he could be an absolute monster. I just highly doubt we see Mike Shanahan take an OT in the 2nd round when they like Compton at least from what LL and the guys have been saying

Fixed. Not sure when 40 times for offensive lineman started to matter.

I'm loving this combine right now. This is an athletic group of OL and TEs.
I hope this pushes them up into the 2nd/1st round and push some more prospects especially QBs down into our range and make our 2nd round pick valueable from a trade up scenario.

    ---------- Post added February-23rd-2013 at 08:56 PM ----------

I don't see the this FO taking an OT in the 2nd, I wouldn't mind it. But judging by the history of Mike Shanahan and the ZBS it seems unlikely.

I don't see Terron Armstead going in the 1st/2nd round but I would love it if he did push some more good prospects in range for pick 51.

I seriously hope nfl gms are buying into the combine riser hype! This pushes legitimately scouted talent down to the 2nd round just ripe for our taking! Media an blog Gms keep feeding the hype, love it!
