I'm around. Haven't watched any college ball due to our games being played at the same time. So I've been mostly reading and lurking. I'll catch up after our season.

I really want a quality starting CB in FA so that Hall can kick inside to free safety and have the position down by the end of camp (as opposed to him getting a few random looks there in preseason). However, the best guy we might get there is Dominque Rogers-Cromartie - Grimes is 30 and has a blown achilles, and Talib has looked dreadful so far. If you don't like Hall at FS, then we could go with Jarius Byrd. I want BPA in the draft, with a slight preference for a RT. And while I poo-pooed this notion before, we might have to look into getting more penetrating, disruptive guys in the front line and going to a more 1-gap scheme. Cofield is playing great, but Bowen has been meh, and we're just having too much trouble rushing the passer. However, we are stopping the run like nobody's business, so maybe we just need to wait for the defense to stabilize and hope Rak comes back healthy.

Thought I'd ask this, but how would you feel if the DC next year was Lou Spanos?

Much better than I would if the DC next year was Jim Haslett.

I think Spanos was the brains behind our D. Although UCLA's D hasn't been great, they do make great halftime adjustments.

I have been thinking about it a lot, and I like Raheem, but I feel that Lou is a better fit for us.

LOL, I know my friend. BUT... with all the attention on fixing the O-line, we need a lot more depth than just a RT.

I will go back to just reading for awhile.

Again though, our interior OL depth is actually in pretty good shape with LeRibeus and Gettis hopefully being starters next year. RT is the real glaring issue on the OL.

Been watching some guys today and have found a couple of guys who I'm impressed by who aren't just 1st round draft picks

    OT Eric Fisher from CMU
    CB Terry Hawthorne Illinois
    CB/S Micah Hyde Iowa

Haven't watched him yet, but have heard great things about Brian Winters from Kent State so I'll try to find some footage/cut ups of him soon

Man if we can get DRC and Byrd that would be beast. I wonder what our cap gonna look like next year. Brown, Moss, Hall contracts are gonna change if not gone all together. We might money for 3 great signings. Cause I'm keeping hope for Clady too.

I think this year we are not looking at a ton of room before those contracts and not including having to resign Davis. 2014 could potentially be a big year for us with the new TV deal coming into play and no more cap penalty

if we want a pass rush specialist we could look at Devin taylor in round 3-5 of SC. Kind of a tweener, great at getting to the QB though.

I dunno next years draft will be interesting for us

I'm a big fan of Sheldon Richardson. With Taylor I just wonder what he'll be in the NFL. Is he an OLB? Is he a DE? Theres a ton of question marks with him

Right now we have 6.74 million in cap room which will be carried over to next year. Here's a couple of contracts I look at that can change things here. First is Brown's 4.5 million next year. He's going to be gone. Next is Moss which is 6.5 million. That will surely change next year too. Now to one that should the most is Hall's contract, it's 8.5 million that will also change too I believe. Oh right now Davis is getting 5.7 million which will go down too since he wont get paid top 5 TE money as he does now. I can see us getting some room for FAs next year. We can basically do what the Eagles did last year with Free agency and push some of the money to 2014.

Right but also we carry over how much for Brown? I'm not disagreeing that we can't have the money, just saying that I dont think we'll have THAT much compared to what other teams will have

Can we just check their awareness ratings? That is a key to finding late round steals..
