Default You have just been named MLB commissioner w/ unlimited power

    Moves I'd make:

    1. Get rid of the DH.

    2. Four teams from each league in the playoffs, each round a best-of-seven format.

    3. More true doubleheaders.

    4. Expand rosters- this'll placate the union that'll be upset about losing the DH (which'll have the effect of lowering contracts) and make the doubleheaders more manageable.

    5. Each team plays two interleague series a season. You either get matched up with a geographic rival (Mets v. Yankees, Dodgers v. Angels, etc.) where each franchise gets to host a weekend series or you can rotate among the teams who don't really have a true rival.

    6. Make the All-Star game meaningless again and simply alternate home field for the World Series.

Expand the playoffs to either 6 or 8 teams.

Get rid of the 1-game wildcard playoff. Make that a best of 3, at least.

Shorten the season so the playoff expansion doesn't result in baseball on Thanksgiving day.

Institute the DH in the NL.

Balance the leagues (which is happening), and balance the schedule so everyone in the division plays just about the same schedule a la the NFL.

Allow teams to trade any draft picks.

Include international players in the normal rule iv draft or create another draft just for them.

    Remove baseball from Florida.

Create a hard salary cap near $150 million and lock it in place for 5 years.

End guaranteed contracts as they now exist.

Cut the schedule to 80 games and drastically expand the playoffs.

    1) Eliminate the DH.

    2) Mandatory blood testing for every player, 3-6x a year.

    3) Contract 1 team from each league.

    4) Eliminate interleague play.

    - End the DH
    - True Salary Cap
    - Franchise tag
    - realign minor league to be physically closer to their MLB team (exception for winter league stuff)
    - Expand roster by 5 players all season long
    - Very harsh penalties for Umps who make themselves part of the game with awful calls or barking with players
    - At least one day-time afternoon game every week day through the season (for people like me who work from home)
    -

Make replay available for everything except for balls and strike

Either add the DH in the NL or take it away in the AL. (probably the former)

Playoffs would be 6 Division winners, plus top 6 teams that didn't win the division. Top four teams receive byes.

Gone, but not forgotten... RIP RP

Execute Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless.

    Get rid of the DH.

'Shot clock' for pitchers and batters.

    Robot umpires.

Replay for scoring plays, judged by a human.

Each PED violation removes 5 victories from a team's record that season.

Asterisks on all records from 1994 and onward. Roger and Hank, you are still the kings.

    1. Have the NL adopt the DH. NL baseball is awful, no one cares about a double switch. Who do you want to see hit, some pitcher who's struggling to hit .150 or a polished, professional DH like Edgar Martinez who can still bring a lot to the table from an offensive perspective?

    2. Let Pete Rose on the HoF ballot.

    3. Let Shoeless Joe on the HoF ballot.

    4. Revert back to the three divisions, one wildcard playoff format

    5. Old school doubleheaders on Sundays which should shorten the season

    6. Balanced schedule

    7. Allow one instant replay per team per game for calls made at the bases. Last night in the Orioles game, Machado at 2nd base, for example. Called out, was actually safe via replay. Showalter should be able to challenge that. It wasn't a call that effected the outcome of the game but it could have been.

    Forgot...

    5) Managers and coaching staff required to dress out of uniform. Bring back suits or coats/ties.

    6) Eliminate the Saves stat.

    -Get rid of DH
    -Improved drug testing
-Give Andres Galaraga his deserved perfect game
    -Reinstate Pete Rose
    -Implement replay
    -Fire Angel Hernandez asap
    -Greater review of umpires
    -Hard salary cap
-Allow teams to trade draft picks
-All-Star Game is what it should be; World Series home field goes to the team with the best record
-Look into technology that allows computers to call balls and strikes

Keep the DH as is. I like that the two leagues are tangibly different.

    Eliminate interleague play.

Keep the current playoff format (at least for a few years - I'm ambivalent about it but ready to give it a chance).

    Eliminate all-star game's role in WS home-field.

Hard salary cap (~$150m) and salary floor (~$75m).

Mandate all teams must keep at least 1000 tickets on hold as same-day sales for <$10

Mandate all teams must build at least one community little-league park per year within 50 miles of their home stadium

Include foreign players in the draft

Strict PED monitoring with state-of-the-art testing

Beat down umps who invent their own strike zone

Batters get a strike for stepping out of batters box more than once per plate appearance

Pitchers get a ball for waiting more than ~20 seconds to pitch after getting the ball from the catcher

And most importantly... eliminate the Yankees

1.) Re-institute the League Presidents' offices and give them day-to-day power over their respective leagues. Let them be elected by a group of people representing management and labor.
2.) Two series of interleague play. Week one will have regional match-ups (O's and Nats, Cards and Royals, etc.) and the second week will match teams that finished in a certain place in their respective divisions (i.e. last year's first place AL East team would play last year's first place NL East team, etc.)
3.) The Commissioner's office would only be used for major cases that transcend both leagues (drug violations, gambling, etc.)
4.) Go back to the old playoff format of division winners and one wild card team
    5.) Monthly drug tests
