Va. Beach has tried multiple times to get a pro team here. When the Expos where looking for a new home, Norfolk was one of the preferred locations but the City of Norfolk shut that down real quick. Instead they went to DC and now at the top of the NL East.
That could be us!!!!!!
Matter of factly.........the last time Hampton Roads had a professional team.....they played at the Coliseum. They also had a future HOF'er on that squad by the name of Julius Erving

Lol what. The Wizards can't even fill Verizon Center. If that team wasn't winning 50 games a year they'd be screwed.
Ya, I just don't see that working here, especially if they aren't winning. Go back to Seattle and resurrect the super sonics.
Virginia Destroyers And Norfolk Admirals won championships last year and pretty much nobody gave a ****. We don't deserve a major sports team, and it'd be hell having to compete with Charlotte and DC. I don't like it, and they don't need the team to have a reason to extend the Tide down to the oceanfront. It's working in Norfolk and VA Beach is starting to warm towards it, setting money aside, putting the issue on the Nov 6 ballot, and preparing to ask for federal funds to complete the project...

We don't know what we think, we don't know what we know. All we have to go on, is what we say and what we show...
I'm assuming realignment would have to occur also, right?

Such a bad choice. I think about the places that would be better suited.
Seattle
KC (who built an arena for the Penguins before the NHL got in bed with a casino to build a new one in Pittsburgh)
Speaking of Pittsburgh...PITTSBURGH
Cincy
Why is it a bad choice?

I remember when there was talk about VA Beach getting the Expos (instead of DC). Big market there, hope they get a team eventually.
What a great rivalry that would create with The Bullets. Bobcats too.

That's cause they're jealous of our style.
But anyway, that is a bit of a shock. I knew there were a lot of people in that area, but VA Beach was the last place I'd expect a pro franchise to go. I thought they'd send 'em north to Seattle to fill the void the Supersonics/Thunder made.
My home town was carved out of swampland.

Wow that's a shock to me. Not putting down Va Beach area or anything, but I could actually seeing it work for them. Lots of hoop fans down that area, and also you have one of the biggest Naval bases in the country. It would get support down there.
Deleted..double post.

woo-hoo! They used to be my favorite team. I may start watching bball again if they come out here.
I'm sure some people thought Oklahoma City couldn't support a team either.
