Anyone have a review of this new "connected careers?" The only part of the game I play is franchise so this will determine if I get the game or not.

pre-ordered the game when i was at gamestop last week. my mom wasnt able to drive me to the mall today and im busy most of tomorrow afternoon so my sister is stopping by the mall after her hair appointment to buy my order of madden 13 and bring it back home for me!! can not wait to play it. interested to try out connected careers. can u choose between franchise mode and superstar mode after clicking on connected careers? also, going to try trading a player to the colts for andrew luck so then i can beat teams with both RG3 AND Luck love love LOVE madden releses day!!!! my favorite time of the year, and thats a fact!!!!!

Maybe Im just missing it with the way the career menus are, but I hate playing in a 3-4. Is there a way to switch that once or do I have to do it every time I play a game? Not a big deal, but still a pain.

Yeah, I don't want to spend like 240 bucks on NCAA, Madden, FIFA, and NHL, so I'm waiting this one out. If franchise is solid, I might be sucked in.

I've been off the Madden bandwagon for a few years, but I'm back on this year. Try it out.
So pretty much to do the old school franchise mode you need to be the coach in connected careers?

So it's official: I still suck at Madden. I can't complete passes over 5 yards and I can't defend a pass to save my life. Here's the super secret strategy to beat Stugein:

    1st down: Deep pass
    2nd down: Deep pass
    3rd down: Deep pass
    4th down: Deep pass

You are bound to hit at least 1 of 4 and move the chains. Never punt. Always go for it on 4th down.

My son has been using this strategy on me for the last 4 Maddens. I consider losing 50-3 to be a solid effort on my part.

I can be moderately successful if I just call the play and let the CPU handle it. But the split second I take actual control of anyone on the defense it's a guaranteed 15 yard gain minimum for the opponent. How you people defend passes is beyond me.

Though I'm getting '13, I generally haven't played Madden all that much unless I'm playing my friends. If he's doing nothing but hitting deep passes, then you should go deep zone, and back your corners/safeties up before the snap. If he's clever enough to kill you with short passes underneath.when he sees that you've done that, then disguise your coverage until a second or so before he snaps the ball/ Most inexperienced players always snap the ball around the same time every play. Then rush 4. You'll most likely sack him if he holds the ball, or pick him off if he decides to throw it.

IDK if anyone has asked this important question, but what is the Skins salary cap looking like in the game?

My problem isn't with the play calling, it's with the actual act of defending a thrown ball. I cannot seem to stay with receivers; as soon as I take control of a DB he herps off into a random direction and the WR gets 6 yards of separation. If I am lucky enough to be close enough to the receiver to try to make a play, my guy always /stops/ to jump and swat or attempt an intercept rather than do it in stride.

I see CPU DB's make diving intercepts, running swats, jarring hits to separate the ball..and they always manage to stay with the WRs, at least within a yard or two. How to do the same completely eludes me.

That's easy, if you are having troubles using the DB, don't switch to him and let the CPU do it. Play a LB or DL

People keep telling me that but it seems cheap to me. I don't want to just call plays and watch the CPU execute them. I want to know how to execute them myself. "If it's too hard stop trying" just doesn't sit well with me.

I just need to figure out the technique then practice practice practice. It's figuring out the technique that I'm having issues with.

That was supposed to be fixed this year. I saw a video with one of the game designers recently and he specifically talked about this being a problem. I was hoping it was fixed.

I will wait until it gets cheaper before Christmas to buy it. I skipped two years ago and bought it last year. I feel like I got burned last year. So much promise, yet it failed again. I am going to wait and see what the reviews are a couple of months from now. For years I only played football games. Now I play everything but. It kind of makes me sad.

I might wait until they add the infinity engine to the lineman.

Not sure about in career mode, but in play now mode or online, if you go to advanced settings on the opening screen where you choose controllers and uniforms for each side, you can choose your playbooks. I would recommend the Multiple D playbook.
