Palm Coast man who kidnapped, "waterboarded" ex-girlfriend gets life sentence

BUNNELL -- A Palm Coast man who prosecutors said used root beer to "waterboard" his ex-girlfriend was defiant as a judge sentenced him today to spend the rest of his life in prison for kidnapping her.

Major Harris III was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole for kidnapping while armed with a firearm. Additionally, Circuit Judge Raul Zambrano sentenced Harris to an additional 20 years in prison on top of the life sentence: 15 years in prison for aggravated battery with a firearm and five years in prison for aggravated assault with a firearm.

The 32-year-old Harris, shackled and dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit, stood before the court and made a statement minutes before the judge sentenced him. Harris said he forgave the victim, who reacted with a look of disbelief as she sat in the courtroom. Harris even appeared to grin as he was fingerprinted later.

“First off, addressing the alleged victim,” Harris said. “We both know what took place that night.

The dude is the craziest guy in the story, The judge is not far behind him. Why would you give this obviously crazy guy life in prison. Put him in a psych ward. Give him a cell next to Hinkley. That's where he belongs. Giving him Life lets him go untreated and then get out in a decade or two. At 32 now he will still be a problem to society at 42 or 52 when this judge is long gone.

At first I wrote this as a reply:

Your passion is consistent LSF, but I'd think you'd get worn out in a place like this if you don't dial the serious down from 11 more often. But if you have the energy and the thick enough skin (as I suspect you do), go for it, amiga.

But I am glad there are radical feminists, and certainly believe such are needed.

And I do see your point on this one, of course.

But after a few moments reflection I added this:

If the woman were one of their loved ones or just someone they knew, I imagine the "jokesters" would want to choke out anyone making such remarks. Yet I do "dark" and "incorrect" humor often enough myself, I just usually make sure it's with a select audience who will know me, and understand, and be ok with it.
