Garcon has french work ethic
Great.
That puts him at a lot worse than week-to-week. No Garcon, and now no Davis. The passing threat and RGIII's life is getting a whole bunch tougher by the week.
Hail.
Is he out for the year too?
Sigh.
Just put Garcon on IR, get the surgery, and get him healthy for next year.
Not sure if this is on our training staff or the docs or both. MRI reports can miss things, especially without contrast, since the slices aren't infintessimally small and there's a lot of structures in the foot.
How does something like turf toe become a torn tendon? I'm no doctor, but something smells fishy here. Not good.

The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "
Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.
So many injuries its frustrating. Seems like we go through this every year. Always seems mishandled. Can we get some better sports medicine doctors. Hello we are in the D.C. area where there are tons of silly physicians.
I do still expect Garcon to be good, but when can we expect to see him is the question? It now sounds like week 11 at the earliest.
All the people saying he needed to suck it up look pretty stupid already if he has had a torn tendon all along. Hard to blame them though as Shanny had called it a matter of pain tolerance earlier in the year, only now do we hear that it is a torn tendon. I am dumbfounded that a doctor working for the NFL can misdiagnose a pro athlete so badly or, as the case may be, that the team can misreport the injury so blatantly. Either way it is more than a bit surprising to hear this news about Garcon.
Those fans who are hating on a guy who has only been healthy for one quarter this season haven't given him much of a chance anyway. I, like you, truly expect him to be a great player for us, it is just so frustrating and disappointing that he cannot be on the field now. I cannot wait until he gets healthy, although now I am starting to see why people have doubts about our team physicians.

My question: W.T.F. is wrong with our training staff? Why did they let Garcon practice and play on a torn tendon instead of sitting him this whole time and allow his tendon to heal properly and/or get him the surgery needed to repair this?!? That's RIDICULOUS. Absolutely ridiculous. Can we please get some real medical professionals in the house? Good Lord.

As I said earlier, MRIs can miss things without contrast. And they don't really use contrast on MRIs except in bigger synovial joints like the knee, hip, shoulder, etc.
There's 4 layers of muscles along with the plantar fascia in the foot so it's very easy to miss something on medical imaging, and the tests for identifying torn structures (especially if its only part way) are fairly unreliable. The slice/cuts they use for MRI are typically around 1mm and the tendons are pretty small so they can miss things.
Still, though, you would think they would be able to figure it out before 2 months into things.
I wouldn't necessarily put it on the training staff or docs in this instance.
However, it's highly suspicious that strings of horrible things have happened on and off the field with our players in the past 5+ years. We seriously need to think about canning everyone currently there and maybe letting Phillip Daniels run our S&C or something.
Hire someone for mobility and better screening/imbalance correction via FMS.
