Sorry to say it but it won't be a huge blow if Fletch can't go. I am concerned for his health though.

Good news. Glad to here he is doing better.

I think losing him in addition to our other defensive injuries would be awful.

    More on London Fletcher's status:

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...played-streak/

London Fletcher’s streak might go on after all.

The Redskins linebacker was a full participant in practice Friday, and has a chance to extend his run of 231 consecutive games played.

“I was encouraged by today,” Fletcher said, via the Associated Press. “It felt good to get out there and run around. . . . We’ve got 48 hours before the game. The body has a great way of healing, and just hopefully over the next couple of days I’ll continue to improve.”

Fletcher underwent six hours of tests Thursday for what was termed a “balance issue,” but he was deemed not to have a concussion. He’s still listed as questionable with head and hamstring injuries, and will have more tests to determine the nature of the problem.

“I’ve been dealing with it for a couple of weeks now,” Fletcher said of the balance problem. “But finally decided to tell them about it and kind of see if we could figure out what’s going on.”

For the time being, however, he has a chance to extend an impressive ironman streak.
The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

This injury doesn't seem like it's gonna get good enough for him to be all that productive. When it's either rest or surgery, anecdotally, it seems rest never works out all that well. I totally envision him resting another 4-5 weeks, lasting a half at 75% in his first game back before it's reaggravated and he wasted all that time for nothing. I'd prefer him being 100% sooner rather than later. I don't want OTAs and training camp to come around and he's still working his way back. Get it done now and be full go when OTAs start.

    Next years salaries are Garcon $8,8 Million;Hall $8,3;Williams $6,6;Cofield $6,5;Moss$6,3; Fletcher $6,2;Bowen$5,5;Wilson $5,4;Morgan $5,3;Brown $5;Chester $4,3; Griffin$4;Carriker $4; and Meriweather $3,5
When the union signed on for another low cap year before 2014 and Penalty of $14 Million we do not have a big Free Agent opportunity

Maybe with his average play we can get D.Hall to take a paycut and free up some cap room. I'd love D.Hall at 5.5m, 6m tops.

We can sign a big free agent of two. Brown's 5 million is gonna be gone. Hall will get reconstructed to 4 million. Moss' contract can get sliced in half. That's 12 million dollars right there. That can net two good players.

yeah, I've been looking through some contracts and trying to check salaries vs cap hits. I think Trent Williams may actually count for 8 mil. Need to try to to reduce that.

I don't know if Fletcher is planning on playing the year after next(or even next year) but hell offer him another 500K or mil for a one year extension and his salary cap hit is practically cut in half.

Doughty can be cut to save just over a million. Wilson can be cut without consequence, and the way people are talking about him playing this year maybe he will. That's over another six million, total

Of course it'd be a big blow. He's the defensive leader, how would it not be a big blow? He starts for a reason, and him being out not only makes his position weaker, but the positions around him weaker as well.

London Fletcher's ability to heal and fight through pain is superhuman. He's Wolverine in a Redskins uniform.

Thats cool - but its not helped him get off blocks this year or cover TEs down the seam.

Love Fletch and it WOULD have been a blow if he missed as he does provide the leadership and set the tone for the whole team but he is a step slower this year IMO. He is still one of our best 4 linebackers but we need to start thinking about a future without Fletch and I'm sure we are. The end can come quickly when you are a pro athlete the age Fletcher is.

It's always hard to tell with a guy who never misses a game and who obviously plays through injuries others wouldn't. Everyone assumed his time to drop off would be last year, and then the guy leads the league in tackles.

London Fletcher with a wooden leg would be better than Perry Riley at this stage. YES it would be a massive blow if we lost Fletch.
