Age doesn't usually show up in the first game of the year, DH.

Do the Knicks have the talent to beat the Heats. Yes or no.

If they do, you have to pencil them in as `contenders`.

(1) None of the older players are starting. They are depth. They aren`t expected to play big minutes.

(2) Further, the Knicks age is balanced by their quantity of depth. They`re 2-3 deep at every position. It is a roster built with any concerns for injury or wear-and-tear in mind. That`s the reason for their strength this year.

Please remind me what players do you foresee breaking down in the end of the season.... and how that will affect the team`s chances.

How did the geriatric Knicks fare against the Miami Heat....

The Knicks are gonna be a MAJOR problem in the east this year. I'm still not sold on Amarie being a good fit on that team though. When ever he and Melo played together, it just seemed to throw everything off. But i do think that bringing back Woodson was best for them. Right now i see them as the 2 or 3 seed in the East.

They look lost in that offense and its throwing everything else off. Nash didnt sound thrilled when asked about even if he did give a positive and safe response.

They're getting killed on the boards. And yeah, they have no flow to their offense. The problem is, if they fire Mike Brown during the season, who do they bring in - in the interim, Eddie Jordan? mmmmmm, IDK i just don't see any other viable options outside of what they have right now, until season's end. Another thing to consider also is, if they do get bounced in say the 2nd round of the playoffs, along with the frustration of coming short of expectations, then DHoward may on his way out..

The only teams i see as deep or deeper than the Knicks right now are the Mavs and the Clippers. The Clippers have a ridiculous rotation!!!

If the Knicks commit to playing both ends of the court they will end up in the top half of the East. Outside of Chandler, that has to be considered a big if.

Then again, maybe they'll shoot 53% from 3 all season and won't have to.

Stoudemire and Shumpert are out until January. Those are 2 nice pieces to get back for the 2nd half of the season.

I think a lot of Simmons' comments go over Magic's head.

He had me dying when he said Magic would overpay for Zach Grienke. I know for a fact Magic didn't know what the hell Simmons was talking about.

Magic should have been canned before Jon Barry and even Chris Broussard. He only states the obvious and brings NOTHING as far as insight.

The Knicks have a problem at PG. I don't like Felton and Kidd is collecting social security. I think this becomes their biggest flaw down the stretch.

Knicks were riding the emotion of the city last night and they totally were feeding off of it. They provided a GREAT distraction for a couple of hours. I'll give them their props. They were focused/committed on both ends of the floor and EVERYTHING was going in the hoop. I still have plenty of doubts surrounding that team, but for one night...everything was clicking.

This is the same rationale that non-Redskin fans and media seem to use to temper the RG3-hype after he`s only played HALF a season. It`s only been 1 game... his success was against a bad defense... well, his team is only 3-5. Yada Yada Yada. I know people that have suggested that it`s going to see 3 years of his body of work before they concede that he`s a legitimate QB.

Except, Redskins fans can acknowledge the fact, after watching the guy after just a few games.... you just know. You can`t deny talent.

The Knicks are legitimate contenders. It doesn`t mean they will win the title... it just means they have a better chance than most. I don`t think that`s an unreasonable assertion. And I`m nothing more than a casual NBA fan.

I won't call any team that was a 7 seed last year (with one playoff WIN in 10 years or whatever it is), a legit contender. I think most people peg them as a playoff team...legit contender? Nope. You have to remember that they're the Knicks and they'll start doing Knick "things" before the season is up.
