I agree. Plus he's familiar with Nash which should help. I don't think he's a bad choice.

you do realize that that was the first round of the playoffs?

not only that but they went from being the #1 seed in the west, to trading for Shaq and dropping to the 5th seed. What does that mean? No the hell they were not close to making the finals.

The Suns ended up winning that game 4 tho. I dont believe it had anything to do with Nash being hip checked.

They lost in 2007 because they had no answer for Tim Duncan. Those Suns teams were never going to win a title. You cannot win a title without an emphasis on defense.

Phil Jackson is too old to coach. If they had brought him in, it would have been a short term thing I bet.

I don't understand why the choices had to be between him and D'Antoni though. Why do you have to get a big name coach?

Why not go for a hungry young guy who made is bones as an assistant with a mentorship from a great coach? It's worked for Chicago with Thibs and for Miami with Spo. They should have been looking for the next one of those guys. Maybe poach someone from San Antonio who studied under Poppovich.

I don't know how that would work when the season is already underway though. Then you have to manage all of the egos on the team as well. I think it would only work (from that perspective) with a guy who's been around the block a few times. Whether or not D'Antoni was the right guy for the job systematically, is debatable, but I don't know how things would work with a "fresh face," right now.
