Irving's handles are jaw dropping. I wish Wall had those handles.
They're flashy and they're playground cool, but he's not a terribly effective ball handler because he's not a good passer for a PG and he turns it over so much. I'd rather have a PG with handles like Rubio or Rondo or CP3. They've got the ability to effortlessly move the ball around the entire court at any pace and create penetration via dribble or pass.

Glad LeBron said that.
And he's absolutely right.

RBs aren't judged on titles? Says who? I know many people that refuse to claim Sanders as the greatest RB ever, because he lacks a title. And I've heard former players (even HOFers) state the same thing.
Anyway, my point was players can't be judged "soley" on the number of titles they won. Case in point, Bill Russell. No one considers him to be the greatest NBA player ever.
And I don't see any hate coming come from former legends like Jordan. He hesitated when asked who he would take, Kobe or Lebron. And his explanation made perfect sense. We already know what all Kobe has accomplished. Lebron's career isn't close to being completed. And with just one title (compared to Kobe's 5), it would almost be ridiculous for Jordan to say he'd take Lebron.
And to the guy saying Garnett is a better all time player than Duncan. Come on, man..![]()
This is the NBA thread...but Bubble...I will give Sanders top 15-20 area. He is not the best ever...and it is not because of a ring.
"The Dream" has less rings than Shaq, but I would take him everyday over Shaq.
I think Kobe has the will to win that has proven effective. LeBron led those Cavs teams to the point of possibility.
I don't think the rings are the end all be all in any sport.
I agree completely about the Garnett point you make though. I love Garnett, but Duncan is like McHale to me just that much better.
Regarding the Lakers (for your pleasure)....I miss Matt Barnes. I miss Ariza too for what his role was. Odom...ugh. Some bad decisions made there. To me a healthy Bynum is a better player than Howard ever was...problem is the kid is almost done.
Lakers are digging their own hole though by not having enough defensive stops/rebounds/turnovers, etc. Never wanted Nash, I may have teased about acquiring him at one point, but I always thought he was not one of the top 5 best ever (same as I feel about Zeke, and to go back to...Sanders).
Thanks for the sig LCSF
I see my point about Garnett being better at his peak than Duncan was too fine for the general audience to follow.
Accept it though, it's absolutely true. Garnett's two or three best seasons are better than Duncan's two or three best seasons.

I agree Steve. Maybe ppl weren't watching as much because he was in Minny but that guy was an absolute beast. Could do no wrong during his MVP year. Tim Duncan is better all around but at their peaks, KG was unstoppable.

Wall shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Irving.

I thought someone said he was the better player all time? I won't argue what you said, that Garnett had a better 2 or 3 year stretch than Duncan. But Duncan is probably the best PF of all time.

The reason Sanders' name was brought up was because one of the guys on TNT had mentioned him after they discussed Jordan choosing Kobe over Lebron. Surely you aren't saying Sanders is in the 15-20 range of just RBs, all time?
I agree about Hakeem. One of the top centers to ever play. Definitely had the best low post game.

The dunk contest was better when it was by attempt and not timed.
There's only so many dunks you can do. They are running out of creative ideas.
Dunks are only exciting when they are unscripted in games. Ben McLemore just threw down a breakaway 360 against Texas. The whole building went crazy. It needs to be an organic moment.

1st dunk sucked because he used a prop and then signed his own portrait. Screams ego.
2nd dunk nearly had me out of my seat, even with the prop usage.
I swear...I'm going to grade these players harshly if they use props. MJ and Wilkins didn't use no props.
