I think there are benefits to both Macs and PCS (iPhone, Android). I recently switched to the iPhone 4 and love it. I'm not living on my phone and don't really care about a gigantic screen...

Sure, 4G would be cool...but BFD. WiFi is pretty much everywhere nowadays. I dig the Iphone layout more...that pretty much seals it for me.
    Which phone?

I have something like 40 or so apps on my phone right now, but I only use about five of them on a regular basis (if that). These are the Facebook, Yelp, Shaza, etc. that are available on every platform. Apple had a big advantage with their app store when the iPhone first came out, but now you can pretty much get anything you want for any platform.
Exactly! Like I mentioned earlier, all of the major apps are available on both platforms. Yeah there's a few here and there that aren't, mostly games, but you can always find another app that does the same thing. And you're 100% right about most being trash.

Because ads are annoying? And $1 is not very much money?

My brother rooted his phone and all that, and I used to be the same way with building my own PCs, installing Linux, etc. But I just don't have the time anymore to customize everything and chase down free software. I just want a phone and apps that work, and I'm willing to pay a few bucks for that.

You should be happy that sheep like me are subsidizing the app economy for the rest of you that have the time and energy to find all the best deals.

    ^ this.

While every dollar still counts for me, I'm more interested in computers and technology that makes life and work easier, than technology that I need to work at. I mean if someone likes to linker with the nuts and bolts, more power to them. Me, I just want it to work and get out of my way.

I still don't understand the "it just works" mantra that iSheeple keep throwing around. An Android device is just as ready to use out of the box as an iphone. Seriously, how involved do you think setting up an Android device is? Buy phone. Power on phone. Setup phone. Use phone.

I just had this conversation with my brother who loves all things apple. I asked him to explain to me what is so good about it. He says things like "its seamless" and "I can click on a date in an email and it will ask me if i want to make a new calendar entry." My phone does these things too and its seamless.

I think part of it is that a lot of people who have iPhones have had them for multiple generations and don't really even know what else is out there. Its certainly true that a couple years ago Apple was way ahead of the competition. I am just not seeing it lately.

I think this is true to a certain extent. Three years ago, it was much easier to do things like create calendar entries, address book entries, browse the internet, etc. on an iPhone than any other phone. Now others have caught up on those basic functionalities (often by copying directly from Apple). And a lot of the "iSheep" effect is simply being comfortable within the iOS operating system and being used to doing things a certain way.

But for my me, "it just works" means that the IT people at work support iPhones but not Android, my music is synced with iTunes, and my photos are synced with iPhoto and Facebook. And if something really goes wrong, I can go into an Apple store and get support.

Historically iPhones have had the best GUIs in my experience. I'm sure Androids have gotten a lot better, but even then, it's hard to beat the ease of an operating system a person has been using for many years.

I don't mind the iPhone, but iTunes has got to be one of the worst things ever

I guess it's different for everyone. I really enjoy mobile photo editing. I've even ordered some printed out on canvases. These apps usually cost a few bucks as well. I just searched the google play app store. It had maybe one third of the main ones I use and that was just photo apps, I didn't check games and other random apps I use a lot.

Also I'll add, I'm a IT professional, I use other phones for business, but even my company is weeding out BB's in favor of iPhones. Our company's app is also an iPhone app.
