my phone got shipped but now wondering whether to get a lifeproof case or a otterbox. Iifeproof doesnt even have a release date though!
So disclaimer- I get phones from work and because of my job, I can really get any phone and unlimited phones. We do have insurance. I LOVE android phones and was very excited about my Samsung G III...I am rough on my phone. I hate cases, I am a heavy user. My phone is always in my hand, and therefore takes a beeting. I had a HTC incredbile 1 and 2 for a LONG time (Loved it). The microUSB port would break (twice) but that was it. Then had a Razr max- battery lasted forever, great phone. Had it for 4 months no problem. Got the G3...2 months later, broke the screen 3 times!
Yes -I am rough on the phones, yes, each time was my fault. BUT - even before the screen broke, it would get scratches on it quickly. After the 3rd time, Went back to the razr - screen is not at bright, not as big, but as rough as I am on it, not a scratch on it...
A very long winded way to say "YES it matters, and YES the Samsung g3 screen sucks"
I finally got to play with an iphone 5 this weekend, my father got his in. It blows my iphone4 away. It's way faster in processing speed and the I tested the LTE speeds to my phone hitting 3g and they were 12 times faster! Even when he wasn't getting LTE and it just showed 4g, it was still much faster than mine ever connects. Siri is fun to play with too, I can actually see it being useful from time to time. I can't wait until January when I can get mine.

guys just wait for the microsoft surface phone if you want your mind to be blown away...
Oh god no, the last thing I'll ever buy is a Microsoft phone. It's always next time with MS, and time and time again they come up short with their products.
Pearlman writes that Michael Irvin, incensed that tackle Everett McIver, in mid-haircut, would not leave a barber chair at training camp in 1998 so Irvin could get his haircut first, stabbed McIver in the neck. McIver was rushed to the hospital and survived, but not without losing a lot of blood. Irvin's silence on the charge has been deafening. I asked a Cowboy who played on that team if the story was true. "Absolutely,'' the Cowboy said. "I'm surprised it was kept quiet over the years.''
Everyone plays the same game. I remember when vista came out there was a video done by a guy I know that used the voice track of an MS VP touting the "new and innovative features" coming in vista as the video showed the same exact features already available in OSX. I remember people making fun of apple for marketing multi colored iMacs....

Ah good old Apple at it again: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57...news&tag=title
Google Maps might not gain admission to Apple's App Store, a new report claims.
Although Google is hard at work developing a Maps app that will be available in Apple's App Store, Guardian is reporting today, citing sources, that it might never find its way to that marketplace. After speaking to Google employees, Guardian found that the search giant is "not optimistic" that Apple will approve Google Maps.
There is certainly no love lost between Apple and Google. Since the inception of iOS, Apple offered a built-in version of Google Maps. However, with the launch of iOS 6 earlier this year, Apple ditched Google's service for its own Maps application, fueling an increasingly bitter battle between the companies. Apple also removed Google's YouTube app from its software.

Apple continues to sink its own ship. The company is moving closer and closer to being but a shadow of its former self.
Are you have to do is save google maps as a bookmarked "app" on your phone anyway. Doesn't work as good, but it's better than not at all.

This sounds like a bunch of rumor-mongering from unnamed Google employees.
Tim Cook specifically suggested Google Maps as an alternative to Apple Maps in his apology letter:http://www.apple.com/letter-from-tim-cook-on-maps/While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.
And Apple fired the executive who was in charge of Apple Maps and refused to sign the apology letter:http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57...s-apology-wsj/The exit of Apple iOS software chief Scott Forstall was apparently anything but quiet. Forstall was forced out after he refused to sign a letter apologizing for problems with Apple Maps, according to the Wall Street Journal.
There is no way that Apple would risk another public debacle over maps by not approving the Google Maps app. I'd be willing to bet an iPad mini that a Google Maps app will be available on iOS in the next few months.

I can't say apple has "sunk its own ship" or is a "shadow" of its former self, but it has not had a good run lately. Objectively speaking, the last three products it has put out have not been up to snuff with improving technology for the user. I wanted to short apple stock a few months ago, and I should have. Down well over a hundred points since its peak.
