The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "
Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.
7 in a row or we don't go!
Very frustrated that we are certainly in reverse right now, even with a special kid at QB. Sit Garçon and whoever else is hurt for the rest of the year. Why rush them back now? The only hope would be if the three other teams in our division lose today. Sad that that is all we have to cheer for. We seem to be everyone's get right game. And I'm sick and tired of hearing, "new franchise record" for every ****ing team we play against.

Here's the problem: They just can't afford to switch direction AGAIN. One of the reasons that teams have prolonged success is some type of stability. Let's say they go out and hire another HC. They're going to want to bring in their own system, scheme, etc. My greatest fear is that we do to RGIII what happened to Jason Campbell, which is switch up the scheme on him every year.
The 'Skins have invested a TON in RGIII, the most important thing now is to not destroy that investment. That means that there has to be some consistency. That means the Shanahan offense.
Now, I'd be willing to chuck the entire defensive side of the ball out of the second story of 'Skins park and start over.
But starting again with a different coaching staff, different philosophy, and then trying to find another set of guys on offense that fits a new scheme, dear God, that's going to take some time.
So, I think that we're stuck with the Shanahans for a couple years more at least. Though, if I were him, I'd fire at least one or two coaches on the defensive side, just to prove that he's mad, irritated, and wants things to improve. Fast.
There appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope it's not a train.
So what you can blame them for every other game. They still gave up 3rd and longs today and still ended up giving them an 80 yard completion as a critical time of the game. They suck, Haslett sucks and he never should've been hired. Shanahan's time is up. It's how we are losing that shows it.
Sean payton train!

I think that they're going to get their mojo back offensively. I actually have quite a bit of faith in Shanahan on the offensive side, I think he'll get it figured out.
ST, Kai looks like he could be a keeper, and Rocca is ok.
Defensively, giving up that 98 yard drive just killed the team. Took all the momentum away.
And having that bad a defense makes playing offense harder. Remember, we said the same thing when the defense was good, and the offense sucked. No margin for error, players press, coaches press, they try and out-smart themselves.
It all factors into itself. The real problem is the D. And I think they have to fire Haz now. I don't know who they get to replace him. But I think they have to make a move soon.

When was the last time they won 2 in a row?

Exactly what I thought when I heard Schefter mention that he will be available after the season. LOL. Personally, I think if he's willing to come here, we should hire him. I wasn't a fan of firing Shanahan, and supported the idea of giving him another season; but we're talking about one of the best coaches in the NFL over the last several years.
