Agreed. Completely. They are obviously not spending enough time practicing this. Any issues should be solved by repetition and coaching. How this could have possibly happened in Week 2 after what happened in Week 1 is inexcusable and should cost Danny Smith his job.

You'd think after last season, this preseason, and the first game of the regular season, it would have been drilled into everyone this past week of practice... what the heck!!???!?!

Funny, no one seems to want to look at what Gomes was doing on this play. Or didn't do.

The eventual punt-blocker ran right past his right shoulder, and Gomes didn't even try to nudge him. Meanwhile, Gomes primary assignment, hadn't even taken any steps forward towards the punter.

I covered that in the OP.

Gomes looked a step slow a couple of times Sunday, like he was in a fog. I've seen good things from him too, though. With experience, I think he'll grow into a decent safety.

Wtf do they do at practice, do they even do punt blocking, good lord, this is becoming a ****ing embarassment. Only the redskins can find so many ways to lose, there's no excuse for having punts blocked in the pros.

Doughty again? I was at a bar so it was hard to tell who messed that one up, he wiffed in week one too, GOD I HATE THAT DUDE, I agree with BANG, he cant play football, have hated him ever since he came here! Our coaches cant see he sucks??

Not really. More on Riley. If Doughty is supposed to pick up a guy coming from the left side, he's got to be positioned further back. So in that case, it's scheme, not Doughty.

In fact, I'm not so sure now that it was Doughty who Coach S. was referring to when he said a player left early. He didn't mention any player by name when he made that statement, but somehow Doughty's name became linked to that comment.

Riley clearly had no intention of even trying to slow his man down.. he wanted to release and go.

Could be he thought he had someone behind him to pick the man up, which coiuld mean he either didn't understand the play called or his help didn't understand the play called.

Gomes didn't do anything, Doughty actually picked a hole like a runner and went.

Someone, or multiple someones didn't know what to do. Again.
